I still say, "if you can afford the car, you can afford the gas."

BTW, you guys have some cheap gas! Pushing $4.60/gal here in Hawaii

+1, filled up at 4.51 for 91 octane at my local Chevron, and CA doesn't even have 93 octane.

a gallon of gasoline in Hawaii would probably last you like a week.

Why? Because everyone should live your life? Everyone should own a Yaris or a Prius? Some people don't want a tiny car. And, being that this is America, that's their right.

My car gets terrible gas mileage. Not only do I not care, I advertise my lousy gas mileage on my vanity plate. Love seeing a Prius in the rear view mirror and seeing them read my license plate! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

And those that get the joke think it's very funny! But, there are those that don't. Or those that take like WAAAAY too seriously.

Thats great that you can afford to have terrible gas mileage. I laud your success. However, despite increasing fuel efficieny of automobiles over the years, offenders like the Hummer, Tahoe, Land Cruiser, etc. has only increased demand of oil when it should have decreased. And that affects everyone.

Haha, I'll think you're cool when you are in a GS450h and your vanity plate reads: "I could afford to waste fuel, but Im not"

I can't sit in a small car because of my back and knee problems. Thank God we live in a country where we have the freedom to choose. I have my doubts about climate change being caused by man, but I do think that importing oil is not good for national security. I hope that in the near future we are able to drive big fast cars without compromising our country's national security by sending money over to the people that will use it to buy weapons to destroy us. For a while I owned a RX400H because I needed the room to carry stuff but now I am back to driving a regular size car. TheGS450H is fast as heck, has plenty of driver and passenger room and gets good gas mileage. I am retired so I don't drive that much. The car will be 5 weeks old on Sat and it only has 300 miles on it. But I do a lot of driving back and forth to NY for visits so I put on a lot of long distance driving on the car.

I like the fact that my hybrid can smoke most of the fast cars at a traffic light but it will probably get about 30 MPG after the engine is broken in
