Touche!

Either way, I would wait a few days/weeks and then drive another one, just to see if you got a bad example or were just having a bad day.

I agree.

I'll take another stab at the car in a week or two.

I'll let you know what I think.

I continue to believe that the "dealership experience" will be a huge hurdle for Hyundai to overcome with this vehicle.

Have you looked at or driven an Azera? That model, like Genesis, also seems to offer a lot for the money vs. its competition. It's surprising that it hasn't sold better than it does. On paper and on the street it looks good, but folks aren't lining up to buy them. Any thoughts?

This interior looks pretty impressive to me if you compare its similar priced competition.

The Hyundai looks twice as expensive than the BMW but you'll probably still pay more for the Bimmer.

The Azera is, indeed, a truly gorgeous car. I'm surprised it hasn't fared better in the marketplace.

IMO both the BMW and Hyundai interiors are more harsh than Ford/GM/Chrysler/Nissan interiors. Doesn't say luxury car to me.

42K for a loaded Hyundai................no thanks, I'll pass. And gee, let me guess what kind of depreciation that Hyundai will have after a few years, how about 50% - 70%!

Thanks for sharing your findings with us.

I plan full-length reviews myself, shortly, of the Genesis and 2009 Acura TL when both become available in my area.

I hope they have solved the road noise problem with the Genesis, compared to the Azera. That was one of the few flies in the Azera's ointment (and one of the places the Toyota Avalon beat it), although, in some cases, that can be just the specific tires.....changing to a different tread pattern can help. Consumer Reports didn't mention any road noise problem with their tested Azera.

Ummm, you do realize that nearly all cars of this price suffer from massive depreciation, right?

Either way, here ya go:

"...the influential Black Book of used car residual values is predicting the 2009 Genesis V6 will retain 52% of its value after three years and the Genesis V8 will retain 50% of its value after the same period. That's better than the Black Book's predicted residual value for the Acura TL, Lexus ES 350, Infiniti G35 and Cadillac CTS."

The Genesis also has great lease deals for those concerned about depreciation. A 2 year lease of the V6 Genesis starts at $399/month. For a loaded Genesis V6 ($40k) you're looking at $499 a month.

ALG Residual Values for the Genesis place it highest in it's class:

Maybe the Azera at $30K, or less, with the same 3.8 V6 as Genesis is an even better value? The deal breaker for some is the FWD, but for others it might be a good choice. Same warranty, performance etc.
