Not surprising,

This regular one is fetching over 96k and the reserve hasn't met yet.

Or this one:

But a regular GT-R is good enough for me.
Why buy a GTR at all...

I don't see people bishing when Porsche does it and I'm a Porsche freak. They have what 500 versions of the 911
base what 70k, loaded GT2 is 210k, Wowzers.

This GT-R V-spec will decimate all

There's two weight factors to consider.....reciprocating and unsprung weight....if the V-Spec goes to CF driveshaft, clutch plates, etc., as well as high strength, but lightweight forged aluminum wheels...that's a significant savings overall for power. if its just simple sheetmetal stuff, its not as outstanding but still pretty good.

Also, considering the present underestimated power figures, whos to say that they again fudge on the numbers?

My take on this V-SPEC....its probably a very exclusive model intended for organized club racing somewhat akin to the old 400R with usuable weight/power enchancements but at the same time maybe integrate a roll/bar etc. hence it doesn't seem very significant.

Exactly. But I suspect there's more differences between regular and Spec V than the article mentioned. But dropping 200 pounds IS significant and will make the handling better.

i think they are using ceramic brakes so thats a good amount of unsprung weight saved. 1lb of unsprung weight is equivalent to 4lbs of sprung weight

I will reserve judgement on the price until I know more about the improved performance and technologies. I would think that the orginal GTR was already a finely tuned machine and considering its performance given its weight, etc. tuning it even further is likely to result in exponential performance. And if the performance of the spec V were to reach million dollar supercar numbers, it may very well be a bargain.

Yeah, for this price I'd rather get a 911 Turbo... Even if this thing obliterates Lambos at the track, it's still a Nissan.

Even though it's a Nissan, it will get more looks and props than a 911, which are pretty ubiquitous.

totally overpriced. Its only 200lbs lighter, and has an extra 37 hp. Id rather buy a standard GTR, take out the back seats and trunk carpeting and add an exhaust, ( relatively large gains with simple cat back exhausts on all turbo cars), and BOOM you just saved about 65K. I know I am simplifying the improvements in the spec v as we all probably are, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

To Everybody crying about it being overpriced.....

1) Where you really planning on buying one anyway?
2) Remember how much BMW charged for the M3 CSL
3) Have you heard how much they are thinking of charging for the next CSL?
4) Presumably, the V-Spec will outperform the stock GT-R. How many cars, showroom stock, can match the performance of the "normal" GT-R for $130K? I bet you can't come up with more than 5

[/rant]

p.s. This coming from me who isn't even such a great fan of the GT-R
