Default Buying a CPO

Can you guys give me suggestions on things to look for when buying a 2007 CPO Lexus? The ones that were obvious were...brakes, tires, and carfax. Anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks

You can probably nail them good by point out the amount of rock chips on the bumper + hood.

Look for leather wear + tear on the seats, as they are ultra soft. Look under the car for rust.

I got mine for 30k out the door back in Sept of 2007, it was a 2007 is250awd built in sept of 2006, had 27k miles. Now I didnt notice the rock chips, which had a lot of them but you cant see them unless you are up close. And when I got my springs installed, the underside of the car were pretty rusty, nothing dangerous or broken, but just covered in a thin layer or rust.

I will definitely hit them up for a few hundred dollars due to these all too common chips. Thanks for the suggestion!

in all honesty if its a CPO, nothing to really worry about, they treat it like a new car.

Which Lexus model are you looking at?

Its a 2007 IS 250 AWD. Has 18K miles on it...HIDs and the Wood Trim option. I have them down to $29K...should be able to get another $300-$500 off by complaining about the chips on the hood.

Yep. They replaced all 4 brake pads, turned all 4 rotors, and replaced 3 tires. I think its a great deal. The only issue is that its a loaner car, but I'm not too worried about it...I had one before and I'll probably sell right around when the CPO warranty is up. If not, I'll pick up Lexus Platinum.

The great thing about Lexus is that you are buying a Lexus. Even if it wasn't a CPO it probably would be great.

Also look inside the door jams, trunk, hood, etc. for over spray that would indicate any sort of body work. Listen to the doors open and close (all should sound the same).

It should be good though.

I was a bit surprised to hear that as well. But a quick search of the forums, showed that other dealers have been resurfacing rotors too...

I would skip the CPO all together.

An 2007 is at most 2 years old so the basic warranty still covers you. Buy private party and get a better deal.
