Default Cost to Tint One Window - $100?

I received an estimate from the tint shop that I frequent to tint just the rear window of my Range Rover. They quoted $100. Does that sound extremely high or about average for one large window of an SUV?

Sounds high to me. My tint shop charges $100 for both front door windows and it includes pulling the door panels off. I would expect to pay $50-$75.

Price varies depending on film used. Which brand film did the tint guys quote you on?? 3m film will cost 25-50 bucks per window compared to the more expensive films like Huper Optik that will run 90- $125 per window.

Well my shop charged me 50$ to remove the old tint and 220$ for the new install of 15% or below for a 4 door car.
The price changes some depending on the darkness and/or colors.

get a second quote from somewhere else, but of course different regions' price would vary. I got my whole car tinted for $110 all around in CA

Thanks guys! I don't know what brand they use.

I called someone else and got a quote of $75 which seems more in line with what I would guess.

Now for the real crazy question: Would any of you ever attempt trying it yourself? Keep in mind that this would be over the OEM tint so a mistake wouldn't be as obvious as if it were clear. Is it hard to do?

Don't do it yourself & don't go cheap on a vehicle such a new Range Rover.

All tint films are not created or function as an equal..

I don't think that's high if they use a quality tint and do a great job and stand by their work. Sure you can get cheaper but if it's a good shop I wouldn't risk it.

Moreover, there's an 'overhead' to doing any vehicle, and the cost per window goes down if they're doing multiple windows. So just doing one (large one) is going to be higher than doing all of them on a per window.

DOH - ASK!

I called someone else and got a quote of $75 which seems more in line with what I would guess.
Well, again, are you comparing similar quality of tint, reputation, gas to get there, time to do it, warranty!?!?!?

Now for the real crazy question: Would any of you ever attempt trying it yourself?
You're right, that's a crazy question. You drive a RANGE ROVER, not a 10 yr old Civic.

if you have a good steamer, you can strip it yourself.

i wouldn't trust the goons at the tint shop to strip my old tint off, especially the back window with all the antenna lines.
they'll probably get my car all dirty in the process.

My cheapness is sometimes appalling You guys are right, I should pay the money to get it done right. This shop is very good and this will be my fifth tint with them so I know that I have nothing to worry about from a quality perspetive. I just thought it sounded high at first...

Thanks again!
