I also believe that a 6 cylinder base engine for a vehicle like the Tundra would do as well as for the GX, Landcruiser, Sequioa, etc. How many people honestly buy these vehicles for towing?
However V6's often work harder to move heavier mass around, so a V6 doesn't guarantee good gas mileage.

Lightbulb FJ Cruiser

Sales so far this year have been down 46.5% to 18,239. Not great but not horrible either.

Probably does not help that it just placed 10th in 2008's Gas Guzzlers list:

Paying $100 or more to fill up a tank isn't fun, but the pleasure of big vehicles and big engines come with the price tag of big fuel consumption rates.

While consumers are flocking in droves to fuel efficient cars, gas guzzlers will always be around in some form because of their power and size. And contrary to what one might think, some of the worst gas hogs aren't the big hulking SUVs or trucks, they're the imported, high-priced roadsters. Getting only eight miles per gallon in the city, the Lamborghini Murcielago is the least efficient vehicle on the road, but if you can afford to spend $300,000 on a car, fuel prices are likely irrelevant to you.

Here are some of the least efficient vehicles on the road.

Upgrading the interior materials does not automatically make it upscale. Even a slight upgrade is what a lot of current Prius owners would appreciate.

That is one of the worst lists every put together.

Where is the 12 mpg cty/18mpg highway of the LX570

or the Tundra.

Upgrading the interior materials does not automatically make it upscale

Getting rid of the FJ cruiser i think would be a bad decision. Whenever i talk to a FJ owner all they say is
" I love the car"
"Its really fun to drive"
"sure it eats up a lot of gas, but its fun as hell"

It would be a mistake IMO if they dropped the car from the lineup.

do u guys think it could become a collector's item say 20 years down the road?

maybe toyota just needs a more efficient engine in it?
im sure toyota has some torquey V6 that gets better mpg... no?
or some V8s that do get better mpg...

there's one parked outside my house (neighbour's). It's a Black Cherry Pearl version that replaced their Liberty. A very unique vehicle for Toyota.
