I think it is way to early to be introducing a Pebble Beach addition on your flagship car. This tells me that the car is just not selling well or the design is lackluster.. I can understand adding a Pebble Beach edition to aging platforms like the SC or RX but the LS...come one..that is your flagship
The choice of special amenities is also disappointing. I agree with the guy who said that if I was luggage or golf ***** or knives, I'll buy them. This has been the one problem with Lexus special editions (be they Coach, or Platinum, or whatever)--the exclusivity is nice, but the gimmies are gimmicks.

There are only 50 Pebble Beach edition LS 600h Ls being made, just as there were only 100 Launch Edition LShs. That's 150 units, a small number as far as overall LS sales are concerned. By contrast, that's 300 Lexus SC Pebble Beach editions for 2008; previously there were 400 units of the SC Pebble Beach edition.
In 1997, two years after the intro of the 2LS, a Coach edition of the LS was offered, in greater numbers...it was advertised on TV, had 5 color choices, etc. that likely was to prop up sales. But for the LSh, with the Launch Edition at the start and the Pebble Beach edition for the second year, sounds more like niche marketing to me. A similar comparison can be made to the 2005 S-Class Saks Edition which was limited to 20 units. And contrast with the 1,000 units of the 2009 Diamond White Special Edition S550 coming later this year.
The Pebble Beach special edition might have something to do for LSh sales, but this year Lexus is doing something different by offering ES, RX, LS, and SC Pebble Beach editions. It's not just the SC as in past years.
Incidentally, I've seen a handful of LS 600h Ls around the SoCal area, maybe it was a fluke but in the past two weeks I've seen three, and one S55.

I think it is a sign that the flagship has been a failure. How many LS600hL's have you seen on the road? I've seen a grand total of zero, yet I see S600's, S55's, 760i's, and S8's regularly. I find it amusing that the PB edition LS is basically the "launch edition" with a different plaque cheaply glued to the center stack. At least on the SC the PB emblem is embedded into the wood trim as opposed to stuck on top.

a few extra grand for a pebble beach emblem. They can wake up next. If it doesnt add power, looks, performance, more luxury then its worth nothing. I hate golf. Other than getting to drive the golf cart I am not into it

The SC really has the best interior color combinations out of all the Lexus lineup. This scheme needs IMO to be in the LS 460 & most defintely in the GS lineup.
anyone noticed the SC has new side mirrors? I actually like the SC 430. still is a hear turner, atlease it turns my head.

It's the same problem as the GS350AWD - somehow Lexus cannot package AWD without making the front like an SUV.
And looking at that LS600hL - it just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's the ugly wheels, poor fitment, LACK of exterior details... even the interior looks too plasticky for a car that expensive. I know it's an engineering marvel but cars at that price have to invoke an emotional response, and to me, it just doesn't.
It needs a lot more than that.

The SC needs a drop after seeing the images.

Now Lexus is realizing that they need a dedicated hybrid model.

a bleh color like Truffle Mica. Plus the 7 spoke wheels on the hybrid looks
good.
Why not offer a real exclusive color like metallic green or orange? LOL
and orange SC might spice up that aging design.
