Thumbs up S2000 CR Review (56K die and don't come back)

The preview:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=351878

The review:

I was excited that after 3 long months and 1600 miles, she could finally stretch her legs. She ran stock except for a pair of front race pads which I used to run with the old S2K.

The first thing I noticed on the track was the amount of grip the CR had over the standard S2k. This had to do alot with the better tires came with the CR. I was able to to carry more speed thru the corners. At the end of the straight however, both carried about the same speed before I had to apply the break. Breaking on the CR was a lot more stable especially under full braking. Front end did not take a dive and lifted the rear like the old S2k. It felt very neutral. Steering was very reponsive and communicative. The CR overall just felt more planted and the cornering stability was amazing.

Enjoy!!!

These drivers were waiting for ONE driver who blew 2 black flags and a RED flag. The dude drove around the track TWICE ignoring the officials yelling and waving. Everyone had to pull in early and the session ended because of this dude.

Check out the roll bar on the red BMW.

I've always been a fan of that vintage Integra, but there is little question that almost any S2000, and especially a CR model, would dust the Integra's FWD platform in the corners, if not on the straights. But on the street for normal driving, I'd much rather have an Integra.....the S2000, especially a CR, is just too small, cramped, and stiff-riding for me.

The CR, as you note, is excellent on the track.........I read a magazine comparison test some time ago (don't remember which mag it was....R&T, I think) between a CR and a Track-tuned 350Z. The CR, predictably, though it couldn't match the 350Z's torque on the straights, blew the Z away in the corners.

Forgot to mention that it is a 'new' track. The track has recently been re-paved. It is now smoother than before. The dips at some areas are now GONE. However, there are new apex berms that will damage wheels and suspension if you run over them and will likely kill bikers if they do.... We were the FIRST group of drivers to 'test' this 'new' track and were told to STAY CLEAR of the berms.. . I am sure racers will ***** and moan about this...

as a previous owner of the ITR, I agree with you 100%. It's funny that you call it a vintage car . It's some what an old car but it can still hang with today cars. It's a little slower than the S in the corners and the straights, but the thing is, it is so freaking easy to drive it fast. The car is so amazingly neutral that sometime you forget that it's a fwd car. You can drive it everyday assuming that you have a safe place to park it. It can take 4 people easily. It rides more comfortably. You can load it up with 4 track tires and a bunch of other stuff to a track event on the weekends and then drive it to work on the weekdays. It's a perfect all around car. The only problem with it is that thieves love it too..
