The LS, ES and to a lesser extent the GS, appeal to an older crowd. Maybe they feel a lot of GS buyers still have old cassettes they can play in the car. It does seem funny tho, that it still has the player in it.

i just noticed the KIA from the other thread has a nice portable music player integration straight from the factory. usb port and all other connectors.
......not found on any lexus vehicle.![Thumb Down](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsdown.gif)

so now, lexus interior has nothing that can't also be found on a cheap korean car.
navigation = ordinary.
tape player = wtf already....
mark lev = whoopty doo.
more tech in a kia???? say what?!?!
it seems like toyota is withholding new tech from being incorporated into the lexus cars.
whatever happened to lexus being 4 years ahead on gadgets and trickling them down toward cheaper models?

The cassette players are going away on Lexus models, depending on allocation. The ES 330 had power-adjustable pedals...
Things that Lexus might consider...HD radio, active noise-cancellation, USB ports, etc. Not sure though if it's a stated policy for the new tech always to appear on the Lexus then trickle down. From speaking with a company technician, seems reliability is a first concern, so the tech often appears on JDM higher-spec Toyotas (e.g. noise cancellation on the Crown), proves its reliability, then goes to the Lexus worldwide.

In a Lexus ride and drive I attended a year ago, these kinds of technological advancements were brought up, and why Lexus did not use them when their competition was. The answer?
Lexus feels that Ipod integration, usb connectivity, and MS Sync, are too computer oriented, susceptible to the same computer obsolescence. Lexus doesn't want to have unusable technology in a 3 year old car. Let's face it, Sync will be utterly useless in 24 months, maybe 36. It was difficult for Lexus to even consider a built in hard drive but they felt safe enough because, basically, the only advancements in HD technolgy has been capacity. Lexus doesn't want to have it's customers beating down their door for computer upgrades.

auxilary jack is 18th century compared to true ipod integration straight from the factory, with usb ports or ipod connectors.
aux = analog crap sound.
oem ipod integration is still 19th century because you don't have real keys for music player function. it uses the sat button, or something else is broken.

wise advice.
I will get one car for every feature i want.
and I will build a 16 car garage for them
portable music player integration has been common since 2007.
Will lexus include it in the 2009 models?................
and top of the line transmission from Aisin? we're still using the same common outsourced transmission
anyway, we can't let MAZDA or KIA beat out lexus in interior features, can we?
the grandpa features on my 2007 GS are pretty much the same as in a 2002 ES........
and traction control killswitch and folding mirrors are found in other brands of cars. so it's nothing to brag about.
luxury cars are supposed to have over the top everything, abundance, excess of features.

The Lexus division has been trying to lower the average age of their buyers especially in the sedans. I haven't heard if it's happening or not.
