i think they've had a similar scheme in the EU or atleast in the UK for a while now. ex: hybriids exempt from the driving restrictions in the city centre, & i think they also have more freedom of where they can park or how long they can leave the car there or something

IKEA stores usually have several parking spots near the front doors for Hybrid vehicles, along with the usual ones for expectant mothers and handicapped people. They also have one for "co-worker of the month".

Not true , topgear test comes to mind, they drove an M5 and a prius round the trac, and M5 came out on top with the lower fuel economy of the two

It was with the new M3 and the M3 has higher fuel economy. And yes, the Prius did get poorer gas mileage than the M3 around a track, but everyday driving will obviously yield a better fuel consumption for the Prius over the M3
