Default Out of these 3 which one would you choose?

All are used

1992 Lexus SC400 [$5950]

1991 Porsche Carrera [$29,900]

1991 BMW 850i [$19,900]

I like all 3 Thing is I could go with the Lexus, seeing its the cheapest plus it sort of gets slightly more fuel economy then the Porsche. Thats what it says on fueleconomy.gov

Plus I think they are all rear-wheel drive, so I am pretty screwed for winters in Montreal.

So far I found a supercharger and intercooler for the Carrera, but its going to cost me $11,490 (give or take), its almost 1/2 the price of the car. True, I could wait a few years to add this in.

Also which ever once I choose, I still need to put in a new soundsystem.

Thing is, I really like the Porsche seeing its quite compact, which I like.

Also does anyone know of super or turbochargers for the SC400.

Ohhhhh, Tough choice. All 3 are beautiful cars, but I can automatically take the 850i out of there. I really like those cars and they are rare, but styling is not as timeless to me and they cost to keep up.

I say go Porsche or SC. Depends what you want it for. Weekends, or commuting?

If it's for commuting, I'd probably go for the SC

With the 850i, I knew some people in Mexico with them and they suffered a lot, even though they could get the parts for them and had BMW work on them, they really had a lot of mechanical issues. I agree, that Porsche is WAY too much $$$. SC would thus be my choice.

The Porsche is incredibly overpriced. Go to the US and you can probably find a 996 with 100k miles on it for $30 grand. $30,000 for a 1991 is ridiculous

you're looking at fuel economy when the prices are $24K apart???

Plus I think they are all rear-wheel drive, so I am pretty screwed for winters in Montreal.
Snow tires and drive slowly, you'd be ok unless it's deep.

Oh and of those 3 I'd take the Porsche. I like the SC but somehow an old Porsche appeals to me more than an old Lexus. And the BMW will be a maintenance nightmare and is way too heavy. No thanks.

If you don't really have a tight budget, seeing as how you are considering a $30k Porsche, why not buy a modified SC300 with a manual and a turbo? or even a supra TT? Or look for a 98+ SC400 since those were alltogether updated with the more powerful engine and different body.

I think the only one to get is the Lexus. My friend had a 850 in high school, very expensive to maintain, he just flipped cars so he never kept anything long, just enough to fix them up, detail them, and sell them. Its a great highway car (when gas is cheap) but it was a BOAT in the turns. As for the Porsche, the market is saturated with water cooled models for the same price you are looking to pay, under 30k here in a housing market collapse city like San Diego.

I say get a newer like 1999 911 or the SC400, and avoid the 850i unless you have deep pockets.
