Have a clean title? Are you sure? "Title Washing"
Autocheck, a vehicle history database, released a study this week that is very alarming. Their study shows that 15% of the vehicles that were wrecked, in floods, or in fires now have a clean title. This is due to what is called "title washing", an illegal practice that transfers a car's title to a different state in order to get the salvage designation off of it. The study says 185,000 used cars now have clean titles that should not. Yet another reason to run an Autocheck report before buying.
