Friendly rivalry? Ford wishes GM “Happy 100″

They might be bitter cross-town rivals, but Ford Motor Company was kind enough to take a moment to wish General Motors the best on its 100th anniversary. Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan, World Headquarters was lit up last night in high style to congratulate GM on the 100th anniversary milestone.

Ford, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2003, also had a big year in 2008 with the 100th anniversary of what is potentially its most iconic product, the Model T.
it is good to have some friendly rivalry
it is probably in the best interest of Ford for GM to do well anyways to keep the common suppliers in good shape

in the interest of self preservation, i would not put it past Ford/GM to partner, or even merge....consolidation of parts, suppliers, etc., would really help their bottom (red) line.

Heck, how about a 3-way merge (with Chrysler).

In the end, a company not much bigger than Toyota (in terms of number of models) would be a good idea. This way, great focus could be put into building superior products and America could return to their glory days as the auto leader.

Since it's a global market, there wouldn't be any need of more than one domestic company to compete with one another. It would simply be the US against the rest of the world.

Name: US Motors
