(19psi - comparing to your 9 year old modified turbo-diesel doesn't mean a whole lot)

Anyway, the '08 4.6 is EPA rated at 14/19, so 15/21 is no great leap, but that's still 10% on highway miles.

Oh and (19psi) an equivalent Dodge RAM 1500 (4.7) gets 13/18.

what i'm getting at is that my 9 year old truck gets the same mileage as this brand new ford, so what are they bragging about? i get the same mileage with 9 year old technology but with more power and durability.
i'm not trying to make this about my truck and i don't have anything against the ford but it just doesn't seem like anything to make a big deal about when old trucks like mine do the same thing for less money but with more power and towing capability.

A turbo-diesel is a lot more expensive power train than the Ford's gas engine for one thing. I expect your truck, when it was new, was a whole lot more expensive than an F-150. And comparing a diesel to a gas engine isn't really valid.

So... that's the new F-150 that looks like the old F-150?

21 isn't bad, my Odyssey can only get about 25-26 on the highway
on long trips and it's a V6 with cylinder deactivation.

What they don't tell you with these EPA numbers is that the mileage
is highly dependent on speed. Cruise at 80 mph and the economy
goes in the toilet. I find my Odyssey gets quite a bit better economy
at 70 than it does at 80 mph.

good points, you're right about that. we all know diesel > gas in trucks!
