Default Anyone have experience with the SRT8 cars?

I've been debating about selling my car (96' LS400) and buying a Chrysler 300C SRT8. I finally took a test drive and WOW!!! what a difference in power. I was really amazed. Plus the cornering and braking were great.

The only downs were that the interior has a lot of low grade plastic. Plus, I wonder how the Chrysler will hold up over years.

Anyone have any experience?

the cornering was 'great'?

gods man, go drive a miata or an elise and find out how a car is suppose to handle.

brakes on the SRT 300 i drove a few months ago (friend's uncle's car) were wooden, no fade, but no bite.

I guess I should qualify the cornering statement. It was 'great' for a sedan. Seemed to corner better than the LS, but I'm sure part of that has to do with the 20" wheels.

i raced a 300m and kept up with im even at speeds over 100 mph, if i were to get CHRYLSER product it would be the new challenger,or one of the supped up chargers with the scoop on the hood...

We have the 6.1 SRT here in the UK. Supposedly ridiculously powerful but marred by very poor quality interior trim and lots of wind noise at speed. Its also a good bit less fuel efficient than the LS400.

If I was going to buy a car like the SRT is trying to be, it wouldn't be a Chrysler.

My brother has an 08 300C AWD, excellent car all around, no major problems, no wind noise, creaks or rattles, probably more of a luxury then most want to admit, one main reason it was bought was because of the shared parts with Mercedes, check out 300cforums.com, lxforums.com or srt8oc.com, search youtube for srt8 vids, it's a great car, I find others saying the dash is not quality kind of weak, maybe they meant to say it's not a lexus

Many LX owners have already hit 60-100k with no problems, but with Hemis, I would avoid the 2 V6 models

It's essentially a somewhat more modern version of the 60's American musclecar, only this time with relatively decent brakes and suspension.

Plenty of torque, dime-store plastic inside, squeaks/rattles, flimsy doors/sheet metal....pretty much what you'd expect from a high-powered Chrysler product. Just make sure you can take the SRT's stiff ride from the suspension and tires........it is much harsher than run-of-the mill Chrysler products.

Brakes are subjective, but most cars need bigger factory setups, with the increasing weight and faster 0-60 on late model cars the manufactures are still using brakes from 10 years ago

Suspension, the 300C and especially the SRT8 models have the German ride that is smooth, controlled and flat, not the squat and hop of the Japanese, I don't need to feel like the rear of the car is gonna bounce out of control because the highway has an expansion joint.

08 models received an all around enhancement, quality was addressed for 08, car looks like it rolled out of the MB plant

I think the Pontiac G8 would be a much better alternative.

Chrysler 300 SRT8.. is a bucket of nuts and bolts with power. I wouldn't do it.

Doesn't quite have the SRT's power, but, in general, I'd have to agree. Except for a couple of flimsy interior parts and a coal-black monotone interior, it beats the 300 hands-down.
