i'd get a turbo supra. at first i thought 997 turbo, but maintenance and typical german problems don't inspire me to want to work on it. i do all my own work since i'm a mechanic so maintenance isn't such a big issue, yet i still hate working on german cars.
so toyota all the way. supras are easy to work on, parts are available everywhere, they're reliable even at 500+ hp.

You guys saying Ferrari... have you ever driven a late 80s early 90s Ferrari? They're pathetic performance-wise and don't always hold up too well in terms of build. The only thing they have going for them is the name/look/sound.
Also... maintenance and insurance costs on those cars will easily add up to an additional 50k dollars over the next several years of ownership.
As for me... 50k.... hmm. If you handed me 50k right now I'd invest it. But assuming I have to spend it, spend it all or lose it, and can't spend any more than 50k then I'd either get:
Brand new 2008/9 Corvette, manual transmission, F55 magnetic ride control, 3LT option package, nav, maybe the variable exhaust system if I could squeeze it into the budget.
or
Loaded to the hilt Cadillac CTS... hell if I could wait for the CTS-V and add some cash to the pot I'd do that too
or
used LS460 non extended wheel base with nav and lev as the only options I'd care about... not sure if those are down to 50k yet, though.
or
Audi S5
or
no-options new BMW M3 if I could find one and negotiate it to 50k.
Yeah I'd have a tough time deciding.

With regards to the used ls460 vehicles - there are a couple here in town on Craigslist that are under 50k.
