2009 Maxima VS. 2009 TL
Im looking for a high 30's sport sedan ...and narrowed it down to these two cars. Iv seen both cars in the flesh. Personally i think both of them look very handsome., however I havent driven either. I have yet to see black in either of them but looking at this youtube video almost makes me just want to buy the maxima without driving it and in that color:

TL MSRP $39,445
I read the reviews by mmarshall on the TL and maxima already.
Can I get more insight and your views on this purchasing decision as well.

I did not drive neither car but just from looking at both cars (it's a very subjective thing about beauty):
Maxima wins by 10 times better. The only thing I don't like is the kinks on the side of head lights.
Take your time, read some reviews, test drive both. Last, if you can, wait for the second year production car after the manufactures fix the initial problems.

high 30s sedan with sport intent..hmm..G35/G37 sedan would be your best game..or maybe IS350??
i'm guessing you choose those 2 cars because they are spacey too? more room? I personally think TL is sportier than maxima. howevre, overall maxima wins hands down for me.

If you get TL with Tech Package you would like it for sure.
I can tell you that build quality inside the cabin of new TL is outstanding, much better than entry G35 from Infiniti and that tells something. It features premium technology not available in Nissan and it has superb 5 speed auto with torque matching. If you liked old TL Type-S you will like this one.
I would give Maxima praises for style both inside and out and its size. I don't know how it drives and how is the CVT tranny but go ahead test trive the both and let us know.

Maximas look very nice.. saw my first one on the road the other night, it looked like an aston with that grille. i would go with it over the tl or also look into a 335i, g35/7, is350

My quivers about the rest of the pack:
Personnaly i dont like the styling of the G35 sedan - too boring.
Same with the 335 sedan - unWOW styling; interior is awful and doesnt do it for me
C class -not pleased with the styling - 50/50 but hasnt grown on me at all
IS - just never liked the styling of the car to begin with
A4: love the new car on overall aspects but inside makes me think about an A5/S5...then it makes me feel like I should have gotten the A5/S5 coupe and I feel sad cuz I cant spend more. lol
CTS - loved it overall, and now that I think about it - perhaps that should be also now included in this comparison now that i think about it.
Out of all those, the rides/handling/drive dynamics were on the 335, G, and A4. The IS has a nice interior but doesnt do anything emotionally though - too conservative. The C class - cant say anything worthy to praise it other than "its in the segment"
To me, i prioritize car selection accordingly:
1. Styling
a. exterior must have emotion and character
b. interior must feel rewarding when sitting inside
c. quality material use in and out
2. Drive Dynamics - handling/cornering/braking/performance
3. Reliability -
a. service experience at dealership
b. safety mechanics and warranty
4. Brand name

I just drove a loaded CTS back-to-back with a V6 Hyundai Genesis and there was no comparison. The Genesis beats the Cadillac in virtually every area possible. It is bigger and more luxurious inside, rides and handles better, and has about the same acceleration. I think the Genesis looks really good in person, especially in black. Price with everything including NAV is an even $40,000. Without NAV, but still pretty well equipped it is $36,000. Unlike either the Maxima or the TL, it is a rear driver car so the dynamics are much better. It my not be your cup of tea, but in buying a car in this price class, you should at least go drive it. It really is like getting LS room and comfort at the ES price.
