Acura MDX facelift spied, it will get the giant plastic grill thing

Honda engineers are hard at work testing a refreshed Acura MDX and seen here are first photos of running prototypes. Design-wise, the major changes seem to be limited to the front end. We can see through the camouflage that a new grill is definitely in the works. It appears to be a very similar grill to the one on the all-new 2009 TL. We'd speculate that redesigned headlights and a revised lower bumper fascia are also in order, however, it's not clear if there will be any changes under the hood, despite statements from Honda saying they'd like to offer a V6 diesel in the MDX by 2010 or 2011.
New TL for reference:
FWIW, the new MDX has grown on me recently, even the Gillette Shaver grill.

I like the grill on the MDX much better then what is on the new TSX, TL, and RL. I wish Acura just would have stuck with that grill design and modified a little for the sedans. The SPORTS4 concept grill looks very good too. The grill does look much better when you see it in person on the TSX and RL but both cars would looks better with the current MDX or SPORTS4 concept grill integrated for a sedan. I don't see why Acura needs to change the MDX grill to something else as it looks good like it is, hopefully it won't just be a carbon copy of the new TL grill. It will be interesting to see what styling direction they go and what improvements they will make on an already fantastic MDX, I do hope they chance the looks of the steering wheel as it is not very attractive and offer a lighter colored wood trim option.

the current grill looks better by a mile...On that TL my main issue is not so much with the grill as with that fog light area...it just looks WRONG. Flared fenders on skinny tires doesn't help much either
