The Flex is suppose to be Ford's answer to the minivan, although it could be compared to other SUVs and Crossovers. I like the Flex and would consider the Flex to replace our RX300. But my wife doesn't like it's boxy design so no Flex...

At first I would have picked something not on the list....one of the big full-size GM truck-based hybrid SUVs like the Tahoe, Escalade, etc..... but they may have been on the market too long to qualify as a new 2009.....one of MT's criteria.
Of those on the list, I agree that Borrego beaks the most new ground.....although, oddly, in reverse. Most new SUVs eschew body-on-frames for a unibody. The Kia goes the other direction......primarily aimed at off-road and towing capability. Yet, the VW Touraeg and Porsche Cayenne have proved that unibody designs CAN do well off-road if designed well.
