Default 2009 Motor Trend SUV of the year (winner added)

I know the SUV has not yet been announced but I was wondering what everyone thinks will be the SUV of the year.

Here are the contenders

BMW X6
Chevrolet Traverse
Dodge Journey
Ford Flex
Honda Pilot
Kia Borrego
Infiniti EX
Infiniti FX
Lexus LX 570
Nissan Murano
Subaru Forester
Toyota Sequoia
Volkswagen Tiguan

I hope it will be the LX570 but I have a strong feeling it wil be the Kia Borrego. Strong engine choices, IRS, body on frame, 7500lb tow capacity and not the worst MPG. Truck trend really liked it even saying the Borrego is a Land Cruiser for cheap...

What do other think?

Honda Pilot, I believe will be the winner. As much as the grill reminds me of a XL USB port I believe it will be the Honda Pilot. . Thought I would like to see the LX 570 win it is my favorite SUV.

I'll say it's between the Borrego and the Pilot. Luxury suvs like the X6 and LX 570 don't really have a history of winning.

My bet...Borrego.

Put me down as someone who thinks MT will pick the new Honda Pilot.

Saw one in person the other day, and I think they did a nice job on the new one inside and out. More evolutionary than revolutionary, but that's not necessarily a bad thing since the last gen was a fine vehicle.

I think the Chevy will win. Motor Trend leans heavily toward domestics but the Traverse is also really nice.

Borrego then Pilot second. Kia really went out of their way in terms of looking at features of other popular SUVs and then coming out with a powerful platform for the value. How it holds up in the long-term is another story.

Traverse.. the market favors crossovers... Kia's 10 years too late body on frame V8 engine is going to limit any potential market impact

The SUV has really lost popularity recently due to gas prices, so I personally would give the award to whatever SUV has done the best job of showing good mileage per its size for a reasonable price.

Not sure which one that would be off the top of my head, though... especially on that list.

Just got my Motor Trend SUV guide.

They give the Toyota Land Cruiser 5 stars and only two other vehicles the same rating yet they don't include the Land Cruiser in the upcoming test. What a dumb *** magazine

1. I could care less to be honest
2. I hope the Kia wins

THe Journey and Traverse look pretty decent. The rest of that large list looks pretty bad. Its amazing people buy so many just ugly vehicles.

Now you may say "no ugly is subjective" but I AM TELLING YOU, most of those rigs are ugly.

Frankenstein wouldn't drive most of them.
