Default 08 RX400h is still on the lexus website

they must be really slow about this. i spoke to my dealer recently and he said the RX350 gen 3 comes out in febuary, and the hybrid in May.

well if thats the case, the 09 hybrid (even if out today) would have a model year of just a few months. wonder if its possible for them to skip a model year and just move on the gen 3.

thoughts?

My quess is that they will just have a longer running 2010 for the hybrid and release it early in 2009.

450h eh? Sounds to me like fuel economy #s for it will be going down if it has power on par with the 400h. Right now, the 400h is a good mix of power and economy, it just needs the direct injected 3.5L. SUVs arent supposed to be fast.

Lexus is not building a 09 version of the RX400H. In the Spring time of 09, the RX Hybrid version will go into production.
Great time to lease a current RX400H if your looking for RX400H.

Well the current 3.5 is fuel efficient, add the hybrid power train to it, and it should be powerful and very fuel efficient for a vehicles in its class

Right, the 3.5L is more efficient than the 3.3L. What I don't want to see is an RX450h with the 339 HP like the GS450h has and as the 450h designation implies. Ideally, the RXh should put out around 300 HP with 3.5L engine and perhaps be slightly more fuel efficient.

Note that the GS350 is rated 19/27 and the GS450 is 22/25.

the regular RX and RX450h needs to have 300+ horsepower to stay in the market.

really, the RX350 needs it more than the RX450h. but if the hybrid comes in with less horsepower, then it goes directly against the Lexus philosophy so far with hybrids, and how they act as "turbos". that would mean they would have "lost"

Good catch. I think the next one will skip the 2009 model year.

I can't remember but I think there was a vehicle by GM that skipped a model year a few years back.

Disagree. I think the next gen RX hybrid needs to be very very fuel effecient and it will be a huge success.
