Default SEPTEMBER 2008 Vehicles Sales

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wednesday, October 1, 2008

VOLKSWAGEN REPORTS SEPTEMBER 2008 SALES

HERNDON, Va.— Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced September 2008 sales of 17,109 units, a 9.4 percent decrease over the September 2007 sales of 18,891 vehicles. On a year-to-date basis, 2008 Volkswagen sales are 0.2 percent ahead of 2007 sales through September.

“This is the toughest economy we’ve seen in a long time” said Mark Barnes, COO, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “We’re extremely pleased that we are still ahead of last years sales. With the arrival of our all-new luxurious CC and our seven passenger minivan, Routan, which are arriving in dealerships now, combined with our other new products launched earlier this year, such as our 50-state compliant clean diesel Jetta TDI, we see opportunity to continue to grow our business.”

Demonstrating that customers are looking for better fuel economy choices, the all-new Jetta TDI and Jetta SportWagen TDI continue to sell as fast as dealers get them in. 2008 has been a big year for Volkswagen new product launches, with five new vehicles launched, including the Jetta SportWagen, Jetta TDI, Tiguan, Routan and CC.

Default Ford Reports September Sales

- Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales totaled 116,734, down 34 percent versus
year ago.
- Weakening economy, tight credit and cautious consumers pulled Ford and
industry sales in September to lowest level this year.
- Ford Flex crossover and Lincoln MKS sedan post highest retail shares in
September.
- Ford readies for launch of all-new F-150.

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ford, Lincoln and
Mercury dealers reported total sales of 116,734 in September, down 34
percent versus a year ago.

September was the lowest sales month for Ford and the industry this
year.

"Consumers and businesses are in a very fragile place," said Jim
Farley, Ford group vice president, Marketing and Communications. "An
already weak economy compounded by very tight credit conditions has created
an atmosphere of caution."

The national marketing launch for the Ford Flex crossover and Lincoln
MKS sedan began in September. Both new products have steadily increased
their share of segment. The Ford Flex has the highest conquest rate of any
Ford product (except for Escape Hybrid), and also is attracting the highest
rate of premium and import buyers. The Lincoln MKS ranks third in the
mid-size luxury car segment behind only the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes
Benz E-Class.

The 2009 model Ford F-150 has class leading capability (11,300 pounds
towing and 3,030 pounds payload) and unsurpassed fuel economy of 21 mpg
highway with the SFE package.

"The sell down of the current model F-150 is ahead of schedule, and the
first shipments of the new F-150 will arrive soon at Ford dealers," said
Farley.

Ford's F-Series is America's No. 1 selling truck for 31 years in a row
and the new F-150 is designed and engineered to raise the bar in the
light-duty pickup market.

Note: The sales data included in this release and the accompanying
tables are based largely on data reported by dealers representing their
sales to retail and fleet customers.

25% decrease for Hyundai?

Azera and Veracruz numbers plummeted 70% and 50% respectively. And they're relatively new to the market.

Is this what will happen to the Genesis in a year or two?

FOR RELEASE: 2008-10-01

GM Reports 284,300 Deliveries in September; Highest Monthly Market Share of 2008

Chevrolet Malibu retail sales up 192 percent; Pontiac Vibe up 61 percent compared with last September
Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook crossover total sales up 10 percent; first 226 Chevrolet Traverse sales recorded
72,500 Chevrolet Silverado, Avalanche and GMC Sierra pickups sold; beats industry trend as segment-leading vehicles grab market share
GM's market share estimated at 27 percent, marks second consecutive month of market share gains
Total Q3 sales up 4 percent compared with Q2, with market share improving by more than 3 percentage points

DETROIT - General Motors dealers in the United States delivered 284,300 vehicles in September, giving GM its best monthly share so far in 2008. GM's share improvement was led by continued strong performances in the mid-car, crossover and full size truck segments. The GM Employee Discount for Everyone sale built awareness for the company's outstanding lineup and offered compelling values to customers. GM's brands are having divisional sales events this month to keep the marketplace momentum building.

A strong lineup of new products, combined with sales and marketing programs geared toward a particularly challenging market, helped GM outpace major competitors this month. GM total September sales were down 16 percent compared to an industry decline anticipated to exceed 20 percent. Of note, GM total third quarter 2008 sales of 828,000 vehicles were 4 percent higher than second quarter sales of 799,000 vehicles and 3 percent higher than first quarter sales of 806,000.

"September marked the second consecutive month where GM performed extremely well in tough market conditions," said Mark LaNeve, vice president, GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. "We again gained retail share and our total market share looks to be above 27 percent for the month without an increase in incentives.

"In a market where customers are cautious and seeking value, more and more are choosing a fuel efficient, award-winning GM product," LaNeve added. "Comparing Q3 to Q2, we also saw a lot of positives. Volume was up 4 percent with retail trucks improving 23 percent. Of note were our full-size pickups that jumped 30 percent compared with Q2. Importantly, market share improved more than 3 percentage points quarter-to-quarter."

GM launch products continued to build momentum in September and throughout the quarter.

"We saw great performance in our launch products - Malibu was up nearly 200 percent - and we're very excited to have the first deliveries of the Chevrolet Traverse mid-utility crossover," LaNeve said. "We're also seeing some renewed demand for pickups and anticipate that our divisional sales programs this month will help fuel the market. Sales of the GMC Sierra were up last month. Our mid-car segment vehicle sales were up 23 percent in September. We saw the Chevrolet HHR gain 14 percent. Pontiac saw gains with the Vibe and G5 while Saturn saw increased sales for the Vue and Outlook. "

The success of GM's product lineup, combined with a compelling value offer, helped the company mitigate the industry challenges as total GM car sales declined just 9.8 percent, while trucks (excluding crossovers) declined 22 percent when compared with a year ago.

GM's popular mid-utility crossovers - Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook -- together accounted for more than 14,000 vehicle sales in the month. The first new Chevrolet Traverse crossovers were sold in September, marking the start of deliveries for the fourth vehicle in GM's industry-leading mid-utility crossover lineup.

For the month, a total of 1,957 hybrid vehicles were delivered as GM hybrids continue to gain in popularity in the marketplace. GM's hybrid sales for September included: 636 hybrid Chevrolet Tahoe, 374 GMC Yukon and 91 Cadillac Escalade

2-mode SUVs delivered. There were 382 Chevrolet Malibu, 31 Saturn Aura and 443 Vue hybrids sold in September. GM has sold 9,053 hybrids so far in 2008.

"Customers are responding to our hybrid vehicles - cutting-edge cars and trucks that provide industry-leading value, great fuel economy and the best warranty coverage of any full-line automaker," LaNeve noted. "The public reveal of the production version of the Chevrolet Volt E-REV as the highlight of our GMnext celebration last month showcases GM's leadership in advanced propulsion technology and fuel efficiency."

With its solid sales performances the past two months, GM has aggressively managed inventories to historically low levels. In September, only about 717,000 vehicles were in stock - the lowest September in a decade - down about 179,000 vehicles (or about 20 percent) compared with last September. There were about 275,000 cars and 442,000 trucks (including crossovers) in inventory at the end of September.

Wow this month has been one of the most horrible month ever. Practically the market is on a decline. Acura is tanking like no other. It's going to take a lot more than a new TL to bring up the sales. We're seeing double digit decrease from most brands.

Default Audi Reports September Sales

• Audi year-over-year sales decline in challenging market
• Launch of all-new A4 drives additional interest, sales
• R8 sales up; A5 posts second consecutive record month
• de Nysschen expects Audi to maintain strong market share

HERNDON, Va., Oct 1, 2008 - Audi of America announced today auto sales for the month of September totaling 7,584, a decrease of 5.4% from last year’s figures. Audi new vehicle sales fell 3.9% year-to-date as the company faces stronger economic headwinds. Audi Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales decreased by 10.6% compared to last year’s September figures, although sales continued to grow year-over-year at 31.0%.

“The all-new Audi 2009 A4 arrived this month to critical praise and high consumer interest in its segment-leading fuel economy, design and performance. Demand for the new A4 boosted our overall sales by more than one thousand units over August’s figures. In addition, increased sales of our A5 and R8 models point to the continued strength of Audi’s portfolio of all-new, progressive luxury autos,” said Johan de Nysschen, executive vice president, Audi of America. “We believe that Audi will maintain its strong luxury market share despite consumer concerns about the economy, and we expect to see momentum around the new A4 continue to build well into the fall season.”

The arrival of the all-new Audi 2009 A4 models in dealer showrooms boosted consumer interest in the brand throughout the month in spite of the model’s late-September release. Based on government data and independent test results, the 2009 A4 2.0T leads its key competitors in fuel economy and 0-to-60 miles per hour acceleration.

Audi posted increased nationwide sales of its A5 model; dealers recorded a second month of record sales for the all-new A5 due to improved availability, with 719 units sold. Sales of the R8, Audi’s premier example of its progressive German engineering, rose by 9% compared to September of last year.

Audi continues to impress industry analysts and other third-party industry watchers. J.D. Power and Associates, the respected industry organization that measures, among other things, quality within the auto industry, recently noted that Audi posted the greatest ranking improvement in initial quality during the 2008 J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey. The Audi Q7, A3, A4 and A6 have also been recognized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as Top Safety Picks in 2008, earning Audi the most Top Safety Pick designations for 2008 models of any luxury automaker this year
