Question about Radar Jammer
Hey Guys
I am thinking about installing a radar jammer into my 3GS however I do not really know that whole a lot about them I am just wondering if anyone up here can explain it to me a little bit more perhaps if someone have them install how do they work and is it illegal? Any input will be great. Thank you all.

I remember I almost wanted to do this but then I just got a Valentine 1 and said enough!
HMM...
For example the Blinder M40 Lazer jammer will only jam lazer not radar if I am right and I guess its kinda smart to have one if you do interstate trips but for me not right now maybe not at all!
If you are going that fast that you do need a radar jammer and if your in a 300hp + car you can outrun a crown victoria easily but I never said anything!
I think thats the best on the market, is it worth it, depends what you want out from it, I heard it works well though and it can easily be hidden in a 3GS!

The jammer sends out IR (infrared) that deflects the lazer, pretty simple but its only worth it if your your local police department uses lazer. In California CHP uses mostly KA band and very rarely uses lazer so I never got it!
Valentine 1 is way better gives a really good warning so you can react in a resonable amount of time, depending of course!

A radar jammer operating on X and K bands is strictly illegal because it is an unlicensed transmitter. A LASER jammer, because it operates outside the regulated radio bands might be considered quasi-legal, although the use of these devices in the commission of a crime (speeding) could be viewed as a separate offense. OK, you go to court, you're toast.
Now, do they work? Any kind of active electronic countermeasures (ECM) is a fast-draw contest. Your transmitter remains silent until it hears an incoming signal determined to be a police radar. At that instant, it powers up and emits a jamming signal to mask the reflected pulse of the transmitted beam. This may not have to be terribly powerful, but considering the stakes, it is probably going to be at least 100mw to be effective. The question is whether the receiver that reads the incoming signal and determines its rough profile has to be sensitive enough to trigger the jamming signal before the incoming pulse is sufficiently strong enough to be read by the radar gun. That's a gamble.
There is an inherent danger in using rather unsophisticated ECM gear, that it makes you light up like a lighthouse. Throwing a relatively powerful signal in the general direction of the incoming pulse will trip off every radar detector within a mile or more, making your jammer known to everyone in the area . . . including the cops. Not the best way to remain inconspicuous. You might be better off flashing your lights and blowing your horn, if not setting yourself on fire.
Radar jammers, even the most expensive and sophisticated ones have never proven consistent in their performance. Your best defense against speed traps is to know the area and use your head. Try to be as inconspicuous as possible, stay within 10 mph of the posted limit, and don't get smart with the cops when you are pulled over. If screaming through a residential area at 80 mph on a Saturday night is your idea of fun, have your bail bondsman and your attorney on retainer and on your speed dial.

Radar Jammers are highly illegal. Laser Jammers are also illegal in a sense the argument is it interferes with Police duty. It is not governed by the FCC thus not technically illegal in that sense. Active Laser Jammers do work. Hawaii has used Laser exclusively since 1992. We have no radar, just Laser. I know many people who have laser jammers. At a small car meet we once had a few years ago, one police officer stopped by and asked one of the drivers who had just arrived if he had a laser jammer in his car. He stated he was not in trouble and just curious as his laser gun could not get a reading on this car when he hit it. I also know many of my friends who have laser jammers who had it go off and sctivate, should have been ticketed for speeding, and was never stopped.

Radar is controlled by the FCC so jamming radar is illegal on a federal level because they control the airwaves. It is also against the law to jam radar in ten states on top of the federal law that is already in place.

Laser is controlled by the FDA and it is only illegal to jam laser in nine states so far and there is no federal law that bans laser jamming because the FCC doesn't control light waves.

The best protection you can get is a $399 Valentine One for laser and radar detection and a $700 dual head Laser Interceptor laser jammer to protect your front from laser or a $1225 Laser Interceptor quad head laser jammer to protect your front and rear from laser.
The Valentine One is the best at detecting radar and laser in the under $500 radar detector category.
