Default So Jaguar XJR's are going for mid 20K now?

Was looking through Autotrader earlier today and noticed a lot of current generation XJR's going for around 25-32K. Pretty incredible since these are 3-4 year old models. Aluminum body, 400hp, pretty darn big, classic Jaguar look. Yep, I'd still hit it.

eh those are no longer current generation XJ's...

they just released the new XJ and XK a couple months back.

but yeah, those cars crash in value due to lack of mechanical quality, and cost and difficulty of repair.

Thats a picture of an 06 model. They just updated the XJ for 08. Its still for sale. Youre probably thinking of the XF which replaced the S-type.

2009 XJR

2009 XF

crap quality, the company is on the edge ( jag and ford). I wouldnt touch that thing. Its almost as bad as a early 90's ford or audi. stay away. I admit I rented one 2 years ago to treat myself on a trip to LA. The power is truely amazing and the ride quality is top notch. I would just get a used lexus instead. I know the price is very very tempting, but just look up consumer reports rankings for the car.

ah yes, well played though honestly i dont see the XJ lasting much longer (or the x-type for that matter), at least without a redesign and complete mechanical overhaul.

in the meantime, i'll be looking for 98-01 xk coupes

I got a ride in a XK8 from a friend a few months ago. One hell of a car. Such an incredible drive.

actually, the last few years, Jaguar has been very high on the list of initial quality ratings...

Not exactly sure how well that translates for "long-term" ownership, but Jaguars aren't exactly built by Lucas these days....

What do you base that on, an XJS 12 cyl from a couple of decades ago?

My family had an '01 Xj8....worst car we ever owned. Had to have the seats refastened to the car on three different occasions (yes you read that correctly), two new radios, one new A/C unit, two radiators, windows wouldn't go up or down most of the time, it was ALWAYS out of alignment, headlights and tail lights were out non stop, transmission problems...

....but it sure was pretty

Well that's 7 years ago. Things can change. The new XJ is apparently light years beyond the last one.

That's what the salesman said

No in all honesty, I hope you're right.
