Default *NEED HELP* Driving on 3 cylinders with a 4 banger...no choice, PIX.

Its car chat...and its a car..and i have an immediate question that will not get an answer in time in the maintenance section...Im gonna link the pix cause they are HUGE...

The problem:

The spark plugs, wires and coils are the original on the car (148,000 miles...1996 Chevy Cavalier)...I broke the #2 wire at the plug. Car starts, and drives...with reduced power.. Can i drive it the 10 miles to the Autozone on 3 cyl? other than burning a crapload of fuel...I cant imagine it hurting anything. The engine is EFI (of course) but not controlled by much of a computer. The ignition is electronic. 1 coil, 4 cylinders.

The Pix (of the plugs...the wires dont really look bad, i broke the plug end off when disconnecting from the plug tho).

^Notice the #2 plug has the wire contact connected to it... Imagine my suprise...

Oh...and my only mod...

So what do you think? 3 Cylinders to the autozone tomorrow? Wife will have the honda at work...grrr...

you should be fine, except for some excess fuel not being burnt in the 4th cylinder it's no big deal for a short trip to fix the problem

my friend drove a V8 ram with 6 cylinders for several years

you should be ok. I had a friend with a civic with 245k miles on the motor and it was down to 3 cylinder as well. he still got from point A to point B(just really slowly and with a sputter)

I actually rigged something last night. i had a 12 inch piece of copper wire (4 gauge) lying in my tool bench. I wondered why i kept it around. i stripped the insulation off the broken wire, twisted to connect, twisted onto the plug and coated with plasticote...LOL it should get me there...runs fine.

it will be fine, i'd disconnect the injector plug though too just so you don't wash down your cylinder walls with fuel and contaminate your oil and lower the compression in that cylinder.

It's a Chevy 4 banger, throw another hamster in there and keep rolling.
