Toyota has another winner. ![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Might eat into Highlander sales though.

They were very specific in having this NOT labeled as an SUV. they pulled it away from one of the mags who wanted to have it in their SUV of the Year contest.
The term SUV is something that makes most consumers run now. America is all about labels.

I think it will be a winner, but not a high seller.
It may eat into Highlander sales. But the Highlander does have third row seating and a Hybrid variant. If anything, I think the Venza may eat into Camry sales. It's pretty much a glorified Matrix...
In these times, Car >> Crossover >> SUV >> Stationwagon.

It's highly unlikely a conservative Camry buyer will want a Venza. Highlander buyers will also see very little use for the venza. The Venza might attract 1st-gen Highlander owners who feel the new Highlander is too big.

So 19/26 EPA for the V6 FWD Venza, and 21/29 EPA for the 4-cyl FWD Venza. Considering that the V6 has 20" rims and the 4-cyl 19" rims, these are amazing fuel economy numbers. Easily class-leading, and makes a mockery of the competition.
Forgot to add the Dodge Journey will likely take a big hit in sales. The Venza V6 actually gets BETTER fuel economy than the 4-cyl Journey, and the 4-cyl Venza gets much better economy than the 4-cyl Journey.
The Venza V6 also makes a mockery of the Murano in terms of fuel economy.

Motorweek reviewed the Venza this week. It was a favorable review. MW isn't usally too harsh in their reviews. They feel it will compete with the RX as much as anything else.
Toyota estimates 6.7 sec 0-60 times for the V6.
Until the economy and car sales improve sales might be slow out of the box initially.

Toyota Motor Sales USA will price the five-person wagon between $25,975 for its V-4, front-wheel drive model, and $29,250 for the V-6, all-wheel drive model, the automaker said. The V-4 model gets an estimated 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway, Toyota said, while the V-6 gets slightly less.
