I was expecting a bit more hp, seeing as how the 2.5L in the RAV4 makes 179 hp.

Less than 2K extra for the V6. No brainer! I really like this "thing".

The V6 is a better bargain at $28,520.

I wonder how the gas mileage is for both the 4-banger and V6?

Edmunds also has up their Venza first drive...pretty good read. Sounds like a very solid car, and I am excited for the new 4cyl to make it into the Camry.

From the article, it sounds like a nice engine.

Venza does nothing for me. Toyota has enough damn SUv/Trucks and thingies.

This just continues to provide additional image of lack of it. Toyota, the brand for people who get excited about hearing their rice crispies "snap crackle and pop"

I was reading in the paper. The reviewer claims that the Venza has the best interior in any Toyota to date. It is obvious the interior shares development with the RX according to the reviewer

Looks like Toyota has been listening to the people complain about the interiors.

I have walked into two different Toyota dealers down here to look at some vehicles and check pricing for some friends and after I tested the 4 Runner and RAV4, both dealers were heavily pushing me to wait and consider the Venza. I found this behavior to be very odd considering the economy.

Wow, so it looks like Toyota de-tuned the 2.7L even more, likely for a bit of extra fuel efficiency and low-end torque. In current market conditions, a smart move. Focus the 4-cyl expressely on fuel efficiency, and for those who want power there is always the V6 which will still give pretty good fuel economy.

Amazing that Toyota is offering 19" 245 tires on a 4 cyl "Camry wagon".

I disagree SICK and I think this will change Toyota's image a bit. I think the Venza will definitely eat into some Mazda and Volvo sales, as well as Nissan sales. Ford Edge could likely lose some sales not just from this, but from the 4-cyl Highlander.

Also interesting that the 2.7L might be available on the Sienna.

Pretty much what I expected pricing to be comes pretty well equipped then most Toyotas though, I expect some sales of the Mazda CX-7 & Nissan Murano will be affected. This as well as the new 4 cylinder Toyota Highlander should help boost some sales for Toyota.

Originally, the company envisioned a 25-percent take rate for the four-cylinder engine. "Then we drove it," said Bob Zeinstra, national manager of product and brand marketing, "and our mix went immediately to 50/50.
Unlike most other Toyotas, the 2009 Toyota Venza will not be sold in multiple trim levels. Every '09 Venza comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, an MP3/WMA-enabled in-dash CD changer, stability control and full airbag coverage, including a driver's knee airbag. Nineteen-inch alloy wheels and P245/55R19 all-season tires are standard on four-cylinder Toyota Venzas, while V6 models have 20-inch alloys and P245/50R20 tires.
Premium Package #2 – leather seating surfaces, 4-way power front passenger seat with lumbar support, driver and front passenger seat multi-stage seat heaters, satin mahogany wood-grain-style interior trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift **** with satin mahogany wood-grain-style inlay, High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with Automatic High Beam feature, power rear door with jam protection, Smart Key System with Push Button Start, backup camera, anti-theft system, color-keyed, heated outside mirrors and windshield wiper de-icer ($4,345)
Panoramic glass roof with front power tilt/side moonroof ($1,050)
• Voice-activated touch-screen DVD navigation system with JBL Synthesis® surround sound AM/FM 4-disc in-dash CD changer with integrated satellite radio, MP3/WMA playback capability, hands-free phone capability and music streaming via Bluetooth® wireless technology and 13-speakers ($2,590)

36.5k for V6 AWD, leather hids with high beam, smart key, backup camera, panoramic roof, touchschreen nav with JBL and Bluetooth music streaming...

Why would anyone buy ES?

I would definetly consider this if I lived in the USA.
