Just curious to see what everyone's favorite "fast" cars are. I know that "fast" tends to be a subjective term, so lets just say sub-15 second or >250bhp cars. Since these are loose guidelines, feel free to take a little bit of liberty with your choices.
I'll get this thing started off with a few of my favorites:
1968 Pontiac Firebird
First generation of a classic muscle car with awesome body styling, at least compared to all of the subsequent generations. Throw in a 6.6L v8 putting out 335bhp and running the 1/4 in 14.2 seconds and I'm ready to sell a kidney. Who cares about the goat, the bird is the word, or at least so I say.

1998 Toyota Supra
Really don't need to say much about this car, 320bhp TT 6SPD with plenty of room for custom performance improvement, most people here prolly know pretty much all there is to know about this car. Toyota's crowning production car.

2004 Mustang Cobra
Finally one I've actually had a chance to ride in and... well lets just say I don't think I've ever been rocketed to 100 mph that fast (outside of a plane). The sound of Ford's supercharged V8 and roaring down the pavement was absolutely ludicrous. The only other car I can compare it to would be my buddy's STi and that's not really a close comparison (in the feel). 390bhp out of the box is pretty friggin' cool if you ask me.

1997 Mitsubishi 3000gt
Having lead the way in early AWD sports cars, I'm hoping to take a ride in one of these at some point. The car just plain looks fast, and with 320bhp backing up its 6spd AWD I doubt it'll disappoint. I'm guessing it'll feel a lot like an STi, but without the ugly styling (IMHO
)

Feel free to bash my choices, but please do so in a post of your favorites!

Acura NSX - Always been a fan of lightweight vehicles. The sleek body and low stance makes it look like something you dont see every day. So what if it has 6 cyl, Porsche makes 6cyl cars too, but no one seems to be ragging on them
Chevrolet Corvette (C5) -I may be the odd ball here, but I prefer the C5 over the C6. The LS-series engine has an engine note that's irresistable with the aftermarket support like no other.
Honda S2000 - Very nimble car with an engine that loves to rev. What lacks in low end torque is made up by the symphony of the VTEC engine. Honda better continue using this formula if they ever make a prodecessor. I love tossing this car around top down or not. The gearbox is to die for. Truely one of the best cars Honda has ever released.
Toyota MR2 Turbo (2nd gen) - Midengine fun in a pretty small chassis. Dare i say but I enjoy driving this car more than the Supra. Yes supra can have all the power it wants, but it's still quite heavier than the MR2. I have an addiction to cars that will alow me to throw it around without asking me to stop. Sad that Toyota decided to get rid of the MR2. Once they got rid of that, they've gotten rid of all the fun.
I'm sure there are more cars on my list, I just dont have time list them all

wow, great lists, RX7, NSX, IS-F, GT-R, G35 (coupe) all also on my list. Good call on the Grand National, even though I'm not a big fan of Buick generally, the GNX is definitley noteworthy.
One last thing: I want to see pics!
yes I am too lazy to google

Excellent selections! For the most part, these are fast cars whose attributes can be sampled out on the highway, or on your favorite stretch of 2-lane blacktop. These are not the stupidly fast, GDP-of-a-small-country cars that are only found in car magazines and in the garages of incredibly wealthy trust-fund babies or NBA stars. Nor are they the creatures of a tiny cave somewhere in the Duchy of Grand Fenwick where they are tended by white-coated minions who regularly dust the unobtanium shell and tweak the interocitor for maximum performance.
Most of these are cars that are affordable, drivable, and maintainable by ordinary people who do not happen to have a brother-in-law in Modena. Thanks for reminding us what's really important in a fast car.

Great lists guys!
I also love the NSX, 911 Turbos, top end Vette's....but I was surprised that one of my favorites has got no love so far....the Dodge Viper....never driven one or ridden in one but still think they're badass!
And, yes, I'll throw the vote in for my IS F as well
