i tried to look around and i can't seem to find the answer, so of course CL gurus again

on the new m3, is CF roof a STANDARD equipment for the car, or is it an option? i have always been under the impression that it's standard (on both coupe and sedan), but the other weekend when we were checking out at a BMW dealership, i saw this white m3 coupe (and it's m3, from the wheels to the fenders to bumpers to interiors, etc...), but it does NOT have CF roof. well at least the roof is all white

i looked at the sticker and it has no mention of CF roof and there is no extra premium for "painted roof". i looked at another red m3 with CF roof and it doesn't say CF anywhere on sticker as well

so i was confused, CF roof is not standard?

I was under the impression it was CF unless you went with a moonroof option. I don't think I've seen one with a solid steel roof.

2. Standard on coupe. Not avail on sedan or convert. Saves a whopping 8 lbs or so....

Maybe they painted it. The M3 has become in some ways the "cool" car for people who want a BMW but one that is more rare and no nothing about cars. Thus the SMG is available and BMW expects 100k to be sold this go round. Many people might not LIKE to know its carbon fiber (or not know what that is) or want a black roof.

Kinda like the Acura grill painting.

did the M3 you were checking out had sunroof? i dont think CF roof is available with sunroof.

umm....... so sunroof might be the reason why then? i really can't remember 100% if that m3 has sunroof, but that could definitely explain why there's no cf roof

both are standards. you can have either CF roof or no cost sun roof option on coupe.
