Lexus Plans Four New Models in 2009, Despite Slump
#65
New models for 2009 (for people too lazy to read the entire thread) -
1) RX 350 / 450h - The RX 350 will be on the lot to drive in February, purchase in March. The 450h should follow by a couple months, maybe even as far as Fall, but I doubt that.
2) IS 250 / 350 convertible - It will start being built in June, be on the ground in August. The build will be about 90% 250 and 10% 350. It will command about a $7K premium over a comparably-equipped sedan.
3) HS 250 - It will be out about mid-Fall. Pricing will be around $40K, and it will be a 4-cylinder MPG hybrid. City MPG should be around 32-35.
4) GX 470 - I haven't heard if it will be a 470 or 570, but I am guessing 470. It will start being built in early November, and hopefully be on the ground by mid-late December. It will look like a mini-LX. Very similar styling, same center console, very cool looking. The same stupid back gate remains, but the 3rd row will be fold-flat and KDSS will be pretty much standard.
There. You can stop guessing now.

I interpret 4 new models as being something other than IS, GS, RX, LX, LS, SC.. HS series looks to be 1 out of the 4.. Make the 3 unkown models "batteries not included" and more sport oriented..
#73
I wish I could believe that but knowing Lexus, the 4 are probably new versions of existing vehicles. ISc, new RX, HS and probably new GX (I've already heard a lot of information about the new GX).

So, I don't want to sound like a Newbie, but what is the functional difference of the LX570 (Land Cruiser) and GX570 (Sequoia)?
I've always considered the GX more of an urban tank, whereas the LX is more off-road-worthy. But I know it's more than that.
Can someone elaborate?
