and if so why dont you hear about them running 10-15 second 1/4mile ?just asking cause i see quite a few saabs and you cant help to hear their turbo! at first it kinda caught me off guard but since they are made by jet engineers i figured it was stock plus alot of them are drove by older women! So are they like sleepers or just not popular in the aftermarket industry? I know somebody's ran 1!

No..........but only on a technicality. The Saab 9-2X, which was a redone AWD Subaru Impreza, came in a standard non-turbo and an optional (Aero) turbo model. Also, I'm not sure about the Saab 9-7X, which was a redone Chevy Blazer SUV....but I don't think that was a turbo either.

Four-cylinder turbos, as far as I know, were standard on all Saab-designed cars for a long time. As I noted, there were one or two exceptions for Saab-nameplate vehicles built by other manufacturers for Saab.

Yea I believe after 2000 all Saab sedans came with a turbo (excluding the 9-2x and 9-7) standard. Before then, the entry level 900 and 9000 had N/A engines. And yes the turbo whine was pretty loud, but its damn near non existent in newer models. Same with Volvo. Once they did away with the boxy designs in 1999 with the S80, the loud turbo whine was gone as well.
As far as modifications, Abbott Racing is a very popular company for Saab ECU upgrades/parts along with Hirsch. The Viggen and Aero models were very popular among enthusiasts.
I used to love the quirkiness of Saab's and loved the 9-3 Viggen hatchback (still do). A shame that they do not make one hatchback currently .
