Original R&T Review of the 1989 Nissan 240SX

Thanks, Mike.
The 240SX was one of the cars I considered years ago when I bought my new Iris Blue Celica (one like this):
The 240SX, I thought, was just as well-built as the Celica (Nissans were well-built in those days before Renault took over), but I ended up preferring the Celica's great looks and FWD traction, though, with a Corolla engine, it was somewhat underpowered. The tiny, Hot-Wheels-Look-Alike Celica that replaced it in 2000, was, IMO, a joke.

Nice find 1SickLex!!
It’s always good to look back and see the improvements that have been made and how our expectations have changed over the years. I'm always fascinated by this.
For example the 0 to 60 times in the mid 8 sec range were considered "smooth and powerful for the class". I for one would have agreed at that time and thought that was pretty good for a daily driver. Today, with cars getting faster and more efficient I would dare to say that even cars a full second quicker than that may not pass muster

My buddy had one. Logged 200k miles on one engine and the body was in remarkable shape. You would have sworn the car was only a year or two old at most. However, as the results confirm, the 240SX wasnt the fastest car.
