I know he posts here from time to time, but saw a post on another forum. So sad, so sad. I enjoyed reading this magazine. Another great mag gone.
Hey everyone... well, I got my walking papers yesterday.. or should I say a quick phone call from my publisher in LA that Modified Luxury & Exotics magazine is being shut down. In the midst of a global financial crisis (among other, internal, issues), it was deemed by my publisher and those above him that the magazine was no longer financially viable.
This came as a huge surprise to me as MLE is an incredibly lean publication with reasonable ad sales (for these times) and a newsstand sell-through rate that is far above the average for the company as a whole.
I poured my soul into MLE over the past few years. I have almost never put in a normal days work. I started early and finished late, often doing 12 hour days and working many of the weekends.
But enough *****ing... MLE was an incredible ride. I have had the opportunity to drive some of the most amazing sportscars and exotics ever built including the F430, Gallardo, SLR, GT3, 599, DBS, LP640, GT-R, SL65 Black Series and the Koenigsegg CCX. And that's not counting all the modified cars I've driven. I drove the autobahn, Laguna Seca, Infineon, Ascari and others. I've been to Florida, California, Las Vegas (7 times), Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Sweden and Monaco. Some people will never, in their whole life, get to do what I've done in just a few short years.
One constant throughout the entire magazine has been my Belgian photographer Joost Demuynck. Without him we never could have produced a magazine of this caliber or had such amazing relationships with the best European tuners. Honestly, the guy is a photographic master.
That's all for now. Here's a short rundown of most (but not all) of the magazine covers since I took over the helm of MLE. The latest, and the last, will hit newsstands December 2nd.

I hope not.... I guess I'll be expecting a check back from the publisher for the remainder of my subscription if this is true.

Very sad to hear this. Had every single issue laid fanned out on the main counter at the shop. When I think of all the boring winter days spent starring at that magazine it really makes me sad. I always dreamed of being featured in that mag one day. I will have to buy that last issue and frame it. Although when they started only featuring cars from the tuner companies and not really doing personal rides (plus having not that many cars in each issue) I was hoping it'd turn around instead of become this. Really too bad to hear this news.
