I am *assuming* they tested this in cold weather (as cold as it is now) and got 4.7 sec & 13.3 sec@ 105 mph? If that is the case then this would be a good contender with the Lexus IS350. If that performance number was from a hot weather then I say it by average it would be faster than the IS350.

I'm not trying to knock on the 370z. I like it. I really like this styling over the 350z. I am glad they shaved off the weight down to 3355 lbs. Considering how touchy the GT-R's transmissions is I am concerned how well the 370z holds in the reliability in this department....

.

It would be interesting to find out the conditions. But I would say that with the heavier, less powerful G37 sedan doing sprints in 5-4 to 5.1 seconds that it was a typical run for the 370Z. Edmunds got 5.1 so I think a good driver could wring out sub 5 second sprints consistently. To get this kind of performance at this price is incredible.

And BTW, I think the whole GT-RT tranny thing has been sensationalized. The transmission is done in by abusing the Launch Control feature with VDC off, a method not advised by Nissan. It's not like the thing just decides to crack one day.

Wow that is some awesome times! I would like to own one someday. It would have been sick if they threw in a vk56 motor with a 6 speed tranny, that be awesome :P Either way I still like the Z

REALLY nice trap speeds and 1/4m. Though Nissan said this car was going to be 3100lbs. This 370Z is HEAVIER than the original 350Z and even the old 300ZX NA. I predict in 4 years, this car will weigh almost as much as a G37C

Guys, please stop quoting 0-60 times like its some kind of benchmark versus other cars.

Regardless I think they have a hit on their hands. 30K for a nice coupe is great. Too bad everybody in the neighborhood is going to have one.

When it comes from a reliable source it is a benchmark, only time will tell if it is a reliable representation of a production 370Z cars performance or a ringer like the first GTR s to be tested

The G37 is a luxury sports car. Ofcourse its going to be heavier

The G37 7AT managed a "0-60" of 5.0 with a 1/4 mile of 13.5 @ 105 mph (motortrends latest review).

They are both great cars in their respective markets.

Completely agree with that! Bench racers make it seem as if 0-60 is indicative of everything in a car's acceleration.

The G37 is just a good "near-luxury" car. Fit and finish is just OK.

The 370Z is the best sports car value there is. It's light, compact and looks good.
