Hmmm...tough call. A lot more than I currently have

I can cope with currently:

• '07 IS350
• '08 Ridgeline RTL
• '07 VW EOS
• '99 F350 Crew 4x4 SuperDuty
• '89 Laredo 4x4 (beater)
• '89 Wagoneer 4x4 (project jeep)
• Sundry motorcycles (street and dirt), quads, big toybox, etc.

The VW EOS is the wife's car, and the RTL is the 'family utility', but I manage the rest directly. I will concede that were they all new 'high end' cars, they require more TLC than some of the older vehicle I currently have.

Always had 2 cars (decent ones, not ****boxes) and once in a blue moon I would get a third. I wouldn't want any more with my current situation being a college student and all.

I only want one car at a time. Too much trouble for maintaining a car.

I own 3 cars, my Titan, my sc4, and my g35x. I could own more, but I'm trying to save up for a house and don't need another vehicle lol. I wrench my own toys, clean them up every weekend, except when it snows then I'll wash my truck down. :P I'm a diy type of dude. I don't think being mechanical incline or not has anything to do with owning more then 3 cars or less than 5 cars :P I think what it really comes down to is how much time you have in a day, week or month to take care of your ride. I think if you got the time, money, and the love for cars, anything is possible to maintain all your rides

I had 3 for awhile, a truck, midsize SUV, and a large SUV. If I had a big enough garage I would own a luxury sedan, a sports car, and an SUV at a minimum but I would also like to have a pick-up. I now own just 2 vehicles, a truck and a large SUV but also have a boat, seadoo, and a quad I just bought last week.

i always like to have one vehicdle for every purpose. at one point before my divorce i had that covered.
you need a fullsize truck for towing, hauling, etc.
a luxury car
a sports car
a bike
an off road truck.

since i work on cars for a living, the maintenance of them isn't a problem.

Thanks for the great replies so far, I was just trying to see how much time it takes instead of the costs involved that we know all about. I love Jay leno and other serious car collectors, but they have many caretakers for thier massive car and bike collections. I am just trying to see how much cars one person can realisticly take care of at one time, and the consensus is 3-4. My peak is owning three, my IS300, a 1995 mitisbishi eclipse GS-T, with some mods, and a 1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R. I had to sell the SE-R, but did not lose a penny on it. So I still have the IS300 and the eclipse. Future plans are keeping the IS300, either keeping the eclipse or getting rid of it for another turbo car( 300zx tt, RX-7, Supra, SC with a turbo/1JZ), getting a newer sporty coupe( G35, GTO, M3) a few years after that get a true sports car( Corvette, 911, NSX), and a little later, turbo the IS300 and get a fast luxury sedan(IS-F, E55 AMG, M5). But, as they say , plans can change.

a couple things to take into account.

make sure your registrations are spread out. i pay in sept and nov. it sucks.

and somehow all my cars were due to oil changes at the same time (i would cycle threw my cars almost equal time in each) so that made sense. but just a hassle.

I'm 17. I don't want kids until I'm at least 28.

Maybe by then they'll have a Lexus LX-F.

I currently have 5 (and had up to 8 at one time) and between inspections, oil changes (other maintenance) and car aerobics (when i want a car out of the garage and others are behind it) it can be a challenge while also working and taking care of other necessities in life. Truth be told i have gone out to a few of my cars to dead batteries, flat tires and varmints nesting due to lack of driving. Also the more the car sits the worse it is for a car too with all seals breakin down and rotting out so thats something I am starting to see as well.

If you ask me if I would do it all over again? HELL YEAH I love the cars I have and while they wont get me into any swank Hollywood parties when I do get a chance to wrench on them I LOVE IT and wouldnt change a thing.
