Dammit, why isn't the VQ37VHR in that list???
IMHO, that engine deserves to be in that list. Heck, I think that it's the General Motors 3.6 V6 engine THAT SHOULD BE REMOVED instead.
Those people at Ward's must be on crack or something![Uhh...](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/1387914497.gif)
Which is not good at all imho.

Shocked to see the VQ finally gone from the list, didn't see anything special in the 370Z / G37, does it even have direct injection?

the 3.7L VQ isnt outdated. its one of few engines that i know of that has variable valve lift. it helps out fuel economy and power. there arent a lot of V6's that have a redline of 7500rpm. with that said, i too hope it gets DI.
for whats its worth, the 3.7L VQ did make the 2007 and 2008 list. just for some reason for 2009 is got beat out by a HEMI that actually isnt really a HEMI with 2 values per cylinder and SOHC. and the 3.6L V6 from caddy that doesnt even match the VQ in HP, or MPG, or redline. i dont get it

Seems to me that Ward just looks at paper statistics and the newest tech for the 2009 list.
The VQ37VHR, which is the current V6 VQ engine for Infiniti's & the 370Z, has been out for a year and a half. And it made the 2008 list.
The VQ isn't as quiet or refined as other engines, but it does what its suppose to do: perform and be a reliable motor.
I guess the 13 year streak had to be broken one way or another.
But in my opinion, both the VQ & the LS deserve a spot there.

I've driven several cars with VQ motors before and without any bias opinion I'll say that motor lacks the refinement that can be found in the 2GR-FSE. The difference is actually very obvious and needn't take an expert to figure that out. It is powerful no doubt but no longer the benchmark it used to be. In my opinion the engine that doesn't belong in that list is the Honda V6 since according to some real-life road test like Edmunds IL's long term test, the Accord V6 actually returns worse FE than the Camry V6. Instead of the VCM Honda seriously needs an automatic tranny that has more than 5 gears...

I was just thinking... it's been 8 years straight now that at least one car in my garage has an engine on that list. Though I have to say I don't always see what they think is so special about it.
