Next generation Mercedes Benz E-Class (Official thread)

You guys think the interior looks good? The plastics look very hard, and the leather looks like it belongs in a cheap van, not a luxury vehicle. What's up with the seat switches being placed on the seat themselves? Looks ugly and uncomfortable. I am amazed at Mercedes and how poorly they continue to make their interiors.
plastic does look hard, maybe because it looks too shiny in the photo.
and Merc leather has always been that way. Very rough, and fake looking.

Not to sound too inquisitive but aren't you guys going a little far with your biases? You've not seen or felt the interior in real life. That's really now way to judge a car.
From the pictures, the interior looks fantastic. I'm sure it will blow me away in person.
The leather doesn't look fake. In fact it looks very high quality. If Mercedes or Lexus leather have different textures and feels to it, that is no indication that one is better than the other. A French red wine tastes and feels different than a Spanish red wine.
You might be referring to something called "MB Tex", that is fake leather I believe. It's an option for the folks that don't really want cloth but are not prepared to pay for real leather either (someone correct me if I am wrong).
My father used to own an early 1980s 300SD Turbodiesel with leather seats. The leather held up really well all those years until 1993 when the car was stolen one day. I remember it as if it were yesterday, the leather looked far from fake.
I also recently paid the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart a visit and got to see some of the earliest cars like a 1930s 770. Did the leather look rough or fake? Far from it. That cabin would blow away any LS460, S550, A8 etc. today in terms of style and expensive material usage.

There's a difference between a word like "dated" and "conservative" for example. I personally find the interior to be modern enough, classy, somewhat understated and quite elegant overall. "Dated" is such a strong word that really shouldn't be used in this thread.

it looks really good at that angle, not feeling the tail lights either though. and I don't know but I like the GS's looks, I definitely prefer it's looks over the 5 series, still haven't made up my mind though compared to the E class.
