Yes they do seem to do a lot of that fake crap. I prefer a brushed metal-like finish (even though I know they are usually plastic-based) over fake wood. I don't want any fake wood in any of my cars.

I still think for the money the interior is still in the top of its class. I dont see ****ty looking wood. It looks alright to me

I sat in the Venza and felt the plastic wood, it's plasticky, which is no surprise. And then there's the goofy shifter location...

The Venza certainly looks better than the ugly Highlander.

Granted, they're in a somewhat higher price range than Toyotas, but if you want to see how interior wood SHOULD be done, just take a look at the Jaguar XF and a number of Audis.

I for one think the matte finish wood trim on the venza is way better than the over polished/lacquered stuff in the other Toyotas

I agree that matte-wood finishes are usually better looking than the polished, reflective stuff. The matte-wood in the Infiniti M35/45, Jaguar XF, and several Audi models are probably the best I've seen.

Is the M35/M45 wood real or fake? I can't tell.

And I believe they use a semi-gloss finish.

Lexus uses (extremely) high-gloss finishes on their wood.

For now, I'm loving Jaguar's new wood finishes on the XF...

Bingo. You're right on the mark. The XF, without question, does it superbly.

Lexus actually has a team of wood experts for their wood. The wood is used from the same tree. its not just some random "oh add wood thing".

Thumbs-up to Lexus for using real wood all the time.

Note that the Venza has two types of finishes - a chocolate-coloured carbon-like finish and the fake wood.

Good to have alternatives, just like the ISx50's.

Disappointing to hear that a brand new Toyota design aimed at practical comfortable non sporty driving has not so great noise control.
