Default Audi TT or A4 vs. (00-05) Lexus IS

Im helping my girlfriend to look for a new car, well me having the experience with lexus i suggested the Gs 300 to her. She claims the car is to big for her, matter fact she calls it a "big 'ol boat" so i turned her on to the 1st Gen Lexus IS. At first she liked the car, but i guess after looking at it over and over again she thinks it looks like a Civic (yeah i almost fainted too). A few days pass and she shows me pics of an 2001 Audi A4, me personally i never really paid attention to the audi since the new gens came out (the 07+ models). I told her i really don't like the look of the interior nor exterior, kinda reminds me of the VW Jetta. So the next day she introduce me to the 2003 Audi TT 1.8 when i saw that car i was like "man how im going to fit my big *** in that little car". So she is all in ups over this little car and im trying to convince her that the IS is a better choice. I've notice some of the lexus members of audi's in their lil arrangement of cars, and im just curious how this car is on reliability and maintenance on the Audi's. If someone ever drove the TT or A4 how does the overall performance compare to the 1st Gen Lexus IS, any input would help in either or category. thanks once again

Oh boy...

Cueing FKL in 3, 2, 1...

Well, back to the topic, how about an E46 3-series? If she's into coupes then that's even better, I think E46 coupe is elegant and has aged very well. The interior is also top notch and miles better than the E90/92.

right now i have an audi q7 4.2 tdi and to tell you the truth, the maintenance is expensive. Lots of friends that have had audis say that its expensive too. But to each their own. Lexus/toyota its good.

Nope, never owned an Audi but have driven a few, the previous and current generation A4s. Tell you the truth, I am not impressed at all. I have a friend, who is also a Club Lexus member and an IS350 owner, his daily driver used to be a 2000 S4 but recently changed to an e90 330i due to the high maintenance cost of the S4.

First off
"she calls it a "big 'ol boat" so i turned her on to the 1st Gen Lexus IS. At first she liked the car, but i guess after looking at it over and over again she thinks it looks like a Civic"
LOL!

The Audi TT is a pretty neat looking car, it's the 1.8L turbo you are looking at right? Hard top? I'd go the TT over the A4 (especially the A4 you are on about), and over the IS200 as well. Only if it's the manual TT with the standard inter-cooler included on the drivers side and the Quattro version. 2wd is tedious if it's from the front. It'll no doubt be faster than the others. Plus... it'll probably hold it's value better too.

The Audi TT is a work of art in design inside and out.. Women love them. The TT 1.8 is a wonderful motor.. Quattro AWD is a plus in the wet.

I know the motors have a timing belt problem, and Audi's are electrical gremlins

I dunno... the 330i is his daily driver and his IS350 is all pimped out and never seen a day of rain. Hmm...
