PRESS RELEASE

BMW ANNOUNCES JANUARY 2009 PRICE ADJUSTMENT
12/22/2008

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – December 22, 2008...BMW of North America, LLC announced today an average price increase of 0.7 percent for BMW vehicles sold in the U.S. effective January 1, 2009. This action is driven by the ongoing structural and economical changes in the market place. It will ensure revenue generation for the company's U.S. operations and help to protect the quality of business.

Pricing for the new Advanced Diesel vehicles remain unchanged. The all new 335d and X5 xDrive35d were launched recently and have begun arriving at BMW Centers this month.

In addition, BMW announced pricing for the new 2009 7 Series that debuted recently at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The base price for the 750i is $81,125 and the 750Li is 85,025 (including $825 for destination and handling). Both models began production in November and will arrive at BMW Centers in the spring.

$2,675 price increase isn't too bad. It is worth it for the 7!

The 7 starts at $20,000 more than the LS 460?

No AWD for the 7 yet. They need one though, I am glad Lexus has joined the AWD for the LS460. BMW are you listening. Add something if you are going to charge me more.

I do like the car though

The new 7 is ugly both front and rear. From the rear, it looks like mitsubishi diamante and the side view of the front is almost like 90 degrees perpendicular to the ground.

The new BMW 7 is not that bad though. Quite good imo (esp. the 740i variant)

relative to the price of the car this is really a small increase. The infiti G35 went up 4k from the first to the 3nd generation and its only a 40k car. The 7 series is much more exspensive so the price jump is almost insignificant

Default AWD coming later in 2009...

BMW to offer 7 Series with xDrive AWD in late 2009

Buyers in the upper echelon of the luxury segment are increasingly demanding all-wheel traction on their rides, and BMW has evidently grown tired of seeing would-be customers flocking to rival automakers like Audi and Mercedes-Benz to get what they want. So for the first time in the model line's history, the new BMW 7 Series will be offered with all-wheel drive.

Engineers in Bavaria have reportedly worked hard to keep the 7's rear-drive dynamics intact, and have opted to fit the xDrive system with a 30:70 rearward bias instead of the 40:60 in other applications. xDrive-equipped 7s will also get a slightly higher ground clearance and Hill Decent Control, a system usually reserved for serious off-road vehicles. The option will be available on all versions of the 7 save the smallest diesels and gasoline engines that we don't get in North America anyway, fetching a €2500-2800 premium (in European markets) over conventional rear-drive versions. BMW is testing the 7 Series with xDrive in snow-draped locales before the option is offered in other markets starting at the Frankfurt Motor Show in October 2009, after which Quattros and 4Matics will be looking over their shoulders.

The 7, LS, S, etc. are all too expensive. Offer a less expensive 6 cylinder model.

Isn't MB going to release a V6 S-class?

They always have V6 & diesel S-class in Europe, which are the bulk of their sales there, not sure if they are going to release it in the U.S., but they did offer the V6 S350 in the final model year of the previous generation S-class in the U.S.

BTW, we already have the smaller V8 S450 in Canada in 4matic & SWB form since last year.
