Erm... it's out in other parts of the world, and it comes turbo'd, that makes the job real easy.

Oh, I didn't know it came turbo from the factory. I haven't read about it yet. I just look at pics. After it hits the local dealer, I'll visit to learn all about it.

Yeah, it comes in 2 main variants (each of which there are 3 or 4 trim levels), an Inline 4 turbo and a V6 NA.
The turbo engine is a 4B11t... a variant of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution's engine

You're only half right.
I just bought the latest issue of Modified Magazine. The main feature is a modded Genesis Coupe (not the one in the linked thread).
You said the car comes from the factory turboed. Actually, there are 2 models. One is a turbo inline 4 cylinder making 212hp. The other is a 3.8 v6 making 306hp.
The the cars these guys are modding are the 4 cylinders because it's easier to add boost to an already boosted car.
They didn't get these cars from an overseas market. These are cars Hyandai used at the US car shows and they sold them tuners.
Looks like Hyandai is going to be friendly to enthusiasts. That's a big thing because companies thast aren't will void warranties at the slightest reason.
