Default question about Big Brake Kits...

Hi everyone,
Sorry for asking this silly question, but here goes. With big brake kits, such as Brembo, Baer, Stoptech, etc., how much bigger are the brake pads? I'm not a mechanic, but by just dropping the pads into the calipers, how much more grab does it really have?

Please look at the picture below. Without using photoshop, what's under the upper and lower part of the red where the guys inserting the pads?

i can tell you from personal experience, the pads are MUCH bigger. Look at the brembo Setup on an STI next time you see one, there dual piston calipers are HUGE.

I can't tell you how much bigger but depending on how much bigger hte rotor/caliper is and how many pistons, the bigger the pad. The bigger pad is needed to cover the bigger surface area of the bigger rotor.

I can't tell much with that little pic.

they pads are usually better, sometimes maybe even 50% larger. however, pad area is just a small part of the equation. piston counts and sizes affect the amount of pressure applied, and also the rotor size affects the stopping power as well

a lot go into bbk

It's also worth mentioning that a BBK is totally useless unless you've got tires that will supply enough traction to stop that fast..
