Default Uh oh...will this screw up a car?

I'm putting this here because it is a question about my friend's Ford Explorer. In a nutshell, he put a can of this into his gas tank by accident instead of mixing it with his oil. Will this have any ill effects on the car?

First off: I don't know.

but! If it were me and I put something I was concerned about into my gas tank, I would be syphoning the tank.

Yeah, I strongly recommend he drain the fuel and fuel lines. Did he turn on the engine after putting it in?

Yeah man I would start or move that car. I would just have it towed to a shop and have a professional do the fixing of this mess. I had a friend who put diesel in his car and had to have the gas tank drained. God he must been stoned or something. LOL

More than likely no, it won't hurt anything. It will reduce the octane a tiny bit, but it's just other petroleum products that will mix with gasoline just fine. I wouldn't worry about it, but I surely wouldn't make it a habit either. There's not enough product in the can to hurt much of anything. Worst case it's like running a super thin 2 stroke premix.

Thanks for the info guys. This happened a couple of months ago. I was looking for some injector cleaner today, and he says "oh...try this" and I tell him that it goes in the oil....massive facepalmage and posting of this thread followed lol.

Hopefully it didn't screw up anything too bad....
