Flashback Ad! Chrsyler New Yorker

I remember when this car was new, I actually like seats and door panels like that. They looked, and felt, even nicer with the plush, tufted, velour-cloth than the above-pictured leather. You just don't see interiors like that anymore.
But, don't start tossing stones at me yet (like you guys often do when I defend big, plush American cars of yore). Outside of the interior trim and the fairly durable engine, I'll agree that there isn't much to say about this car. It was poorly-built (and I MEAN poorly-built), it rattled and squeaked like a can of marbles, trim pieces fell off, the rear roofline looks like somebody took a large ax to it, the transmission leaked like a seive, and it was POS'es like this that drove much of the public, at the time, into Japanese cars. Lexus itself, BTW, was introduced right around this time, and what a difference.

Typical Hollywood nonsense....that's a stereotype from films and TV shows.
There are a lot of pimps that aren't black, and most pimps don't wear wide-brimmed hats or bright-colored clothes. That's because they don't want to attract attention from vice cops. Cadillacs, not Chryslers, have usually been the car of choice for them, but, again, not too outlandishly-trimmed, so as not to attract too much attention.

There is no way you could even go around a corner at more than 10mph with those seats. That car is a huge piece of crap. Think of how many suckers bought this garbage and got screwed. Its really sad.

What's crazy is that you'll never see one of those on the road, but you'll see an '86 Corolla every now and then LOL

It would corner reasonably well for that type of car....far better than the full-size, non-police package, RWD cars of the period. And if you were properly belted in (as any driver should be), that alone kept you from sliding all over the front seat on corners.
The main problem with this car, as with many Chrysler products in general for decades, was not the chassis, but the awful build quality......IMO bordering on a joke.
