Post VW Sues Lamborghini OC for "Outright Theft" of $12 Million

Last November, Lamborghini Orange County, formerly the world's largest Lambo dealer, shuttered its doors for good. The reason for the abrupt closing has finally come to light thanks to freshly released court documents from a lawsuit where Volkswagen accuses the dealership of pilfering $12 million in just eight days. According to Lamborghini's corporate overlord, Volkswagen, the Keuylian family sold 54 cars at rock-bottom prices and summarily ran off with the money without paying off its creditors. If true, that leaves VW high and dry, as the dealership had financed the high-end cars through VW Credit.
Two more lawsuits have been filed against the Keuylians by outside parties, claiming that they too are owed money from the erstwhile dealership. We've got to wonder how the dealership managed to fly under the radar while selling off seven cars per day over an eight day period. It's too early to know how this sordid tale will play out, but we don't see it ending well.

usually means they sold cars with absurd (such as 12 year) financing options, which makes the cars go upside-down financially, making those cars a high liability for the financing company (VW)...

Gaw we could have gotten a group buy at bottom-end price!

1-5 buyers: $200,000
6-10 buyers: $190,000
11+ buyers: $180,000

Seems like a deal to me!

This dealership and its owners have a reputation as being very shady and the allegations are not particularly suprising.

Default More Woes for Lamborghini OC even after closure

"There is a very Orange County scandal brewing. It involves a Lamborghini dealer -- said to be the biggest in the United States -- that mysteriously closed last year. Now, there are claims in court that the dealer was involved in a giant fraud, according to the O.C. Register:

Lamborghini Orange County, formerly the world’s largest dealer of the Italian luxury vehicles that sell from upwards of $200,000 apiece, closed in November without explanation. Now court documents indicate what happened. The owners of Lamborghini Orange County in Santa Ana committed “outright theft” of approximately $12 million by selling its fleet of exotic sports cars at deep discounts and failing to pay their creditor, according to a lawsuit filed by Volkswagen Credit Inc. in Orange County Superior Court. The lawsuit says the owners of the Orange County dealership and its affiliate in Calabasas unloaded 54 cars in eight days –- accounting for 8 percent of all the Lamborghinis sold in the United States during all of 2008."

Too bad I wasn't looking for a new Lamborghini just a few months ago.
It's sad though, people will always take the easy way out, especially in tough economic times...
