why is there no gs350 being offered? anyways... lexus makes perfect sense in the philippines. if im going to spend P5 mil on a car, i want it to be reliable and comfortable. i would be scared to buy a bmw or benz over there because of repair costs.

Wow lots of questions and I really dunno where to start. I'll see if I can answer any of them (hopefully)
Not sure but they seem to be categorized under a different version specification. For instance, the cars available here have headlamp washers (which are not present in JDM and North American versions).
After browsing through the quick guide as well as the owner's manual, I'd probably have to say that it's like a spec for Asia-Pacific + Middle East or something like that(though I'm not too sure on that)
The 3.5 unit in that GS is not ready for Philippine use. Reason: Due to the ****ty quality of fuel in our country atm, such engines would just breakdown...
They could offer a version that could work for countries like us.....but it looks like Lexus doesn't have such a configuration/option as of the present moment.
And they couldn't introduce it as they seemed that it might undercut or jeopardize the sales of the IS 300 (the cheapest priced Lexus model atm)
Most definitely not.
In fact, it is the same engine that you guys had/have in your GS 300 (just WITHOUT the Direct Injection).
So yup: The unit here uses the 3GR-FE engine.
In fact, all of the Lexus models available in the Philippines don't have Direct Injection.
P.S.
My dad and I will be test driving the IS 300 next weekend (and if we're lucky, the GS 460 port injection version as well). We'll give some feedback if we can soon enough

What kind of engine do they put in that IS300? Shurely not the 2JZ?!!
Most definitely not.

Thanks for the pics blackraven and lex-phil!
I like the exterior 'wavy' facade design of the Manila dealership, very unique looking. The inside seems very upscale too.

Yeah, it looks like all RP Lexus models are Asia-Pacific/Middle East Spec. Dunno about the ES though, since other Asian countries don't offer it (is it US spec, then?). Which brings me to my next point, what is the point of offering the ES anyway? The Asian Camry is already quite upscale and looks better (imo) than the ES. They should have brought a V6 GS instead.
I already saw a LS460 when i was visiting last month, even before Lexus officially launched. So I'm sure Lexus will do well...Toyota dominates the car industry there, so their success will carry over to Lexus, especially for those looking to upgrade from their Camry or Fortuner.

The ES above had headlamp washers in it.....so it is another Asia-Pacific/Middle East spec model (LHD territories only). As for why they can't bring in the GS 6-cylinder model. Well, I guess they don't want it to harm or take away sales from the IS 300 sold here (which will serve as the most purchased Lexus vehicle in the showroom). So I guess they didn't want to do that.
Btw, the LX 570 offered here is not that bad........except for those lame-*** wheels/rims that come with it. In fact, the 10-spoke wheels of those grey market/parallel import units (originally from America) are a much better match.
