2010 Lexus LS (With a 3.5 V6 ?)

I don’t find a problem with Lexus offering a V6 in the LS. It seems nobody wants to say it here but Toyota/Lexus is about money. Don’t fool yourself that it’s about making a more efficient LS. Honestly, it will water down the LS name in the U.S. I don’t care what the S Class offer. The S Class also offers a S600/S63/S65. For that reason, I will always put the S Class ahead of the LS. Lexus is not Mercedes and vice verse.
This is just a move to sell more cars not up the company prestige. Even though the LS Hybrid doesn’t sell great I respect Lexus for offering something new. I respect them for not copying another carmaker idea.

You are 100% on this. Lexus needs to moves these cars. They are down 40%from 2007. Lexus has had the 3.5 in production for a long time now and they will make a lot of money when using this engine as investment has long been paid for.
The big question is. For the first time. Will Toyota marry the 3.5 to the 8 speed?

Of course Toyota and Lexus are about making money. Shareholders demand that type of action from management. I'm not afraid to say it. And strong balance sheet and capital will help them increase market share in these tough economic times.

If it ever happens, It will be definitely good news for european customers.Things are REALLY different in Europe when compared to the US. V8 hardly sell over here and as Lexus are not doing very high sales volumes, it could definitely help.
Furthermore, I guess that a LS350 would sell better than à GS350 because of the luxury image it gets and that a GS does not carry, at least here.

Well yes and no.
1. People want more efficient cars. Making a more efficient LS = more buyers.
2. CAFE standards looming in the distance. If they don't meet them, they have to charge more for their cars to pay the penalty = less buyers.
They havent yet and I imagine that they are rushing to get this to production. I'd still like to see it though.

yes!! i cant wait for the V6 LS to come ... here in asia, we get taxed proportionally as our displacement gets bigger.
with all the traffic, we don't even have the opportunity to flex the V8 muscles...so, welcome V6 LS!

If I am not wrong. But the 4.6, 5.7 and the 3.5 are all part of the UR family of engines? I am not 100% on this.

I think it will open up te LS market a little. They will definetly move more units. They will be cheaper and more efficient. That usually translates into some increase in sales
