Subaru of America Inc. on Tuesday said its U.S. sales rose 8 percent in January as sharply higher volumes of its Forester sport utility vehicle offset weaker demand for the rest of its lineup.
Total January sales rose to 12,194 from 11,289 in January last year, according to the Japanese automaker's U.S. division. Last month, the company was the only major automaker to report an improvement in annual sales.
Yahoo! BuzzSales of its top-selling Forester model more than doubled to 5,162 from 2,402. That improvement more than offset reduced demand for its Legacy, Outback, Impreza and Tribeca models.

Porsche Reports U.S. Sales for January
ATLANTA - February 3, 2009: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States, today announced January sales in the U.S. of 1,658 units compared to the same period last year when it sold 2,595 new vehicles, a drop of 36 percent.
The decline in Porsche sales for January is a result of the worsening economy that is particularly impacting sales of luxury items including the German auto maker’s premium sports cars. Apart from the continued adverse consumer sentiment, Porsche is in the midst of an important model changeover with the pending market launch of the new 2009 Boxster and Cayman models next month. Boxster and Cayman sales combined were down 65 percent from the previous year.
Porsche’s high-end SUV range continues to perform strongly with total Cayenne sales of 947, nearly on par with last year’s January figure of 1,008 and 10 percent ahead of the previous month when 860 Cayennes were sold in December of 2008.
For the month of January, Porsche’s Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales were 563.

Maybe Highlander is loosing sales to the RAV4 (8,034/10,897)?

I would assume that the huge discounts being given on the RX (to clear out the inventory prior to the arrival of the new model) have a lot to due with the surprisingly large sales volume.

If we ever hand out awards monthly for the "most spun" sales press release, Ford would have to be in the running. All the spin on how well they are doing and then you get to the figures and see that -42.1% drop for all Ford products. At least Edmunds is demonstrating that depth of auto knowledge that we have all come to expect from their forecast yesterday of a 29.8% drop for Ford.
Sure looks like the S class is right after the corporate jet in politically uncorrectness. 516 units. Ought to be able to get a tremendous deal.

Well Lexus cars are down 37.7%. The trucks are not bad. But a start like this will make it very tought to hit 200,000 sales. I still predict they won't hit 200,000.
