Time for Lexus to have an armour option

it was funny to see media, especially auto sites jump on this, trying hard to blame lexus... anyone with half brain would realize that batteries are at the back while the front went boom, and there is nothing in hybrid system that can explode... heck, there was never case of battery exploding, regardless of accidents (and there are over million hybrids on roads today) as they use nimh batteries adjusted for use in cars and not prone for explosion (which cant be said about gas in the tank).

this is why toyota is not rushing with lithium batteries as they are much more prone to explosion, and imagine what kind of backslash would single explosion be, regardless of the fact that in accident gasoline powered vehicles can explode as well.

It looks as if a person snuck it into the bumper, from what i heard in the news, he was actually walking past the car when it exploded and he was blown into some flower garden or something, and i don't think this was an issue of the car because when i saw it on the news, they didn't even mention what kind of car it was

Look at the front bumper of the car. the scorchmarks are on the outside of the bumper cover as well as on the bumper itself. This doc was on a medical board in which 7 doctors were to be investigated. This had nothing to do with the hybrid system itself.

i would be pleasantly surprised if the car is still able to start from the blast. seeing the damage doesn't seem that major from the 2 pics i posted.

i hope the doc. recovers fully.

It looks like the blast was intended to set the whole car off, but the person planting it must have either been an amateur or had no idea what he/she was doing (thank god for that though).

Anyone else think it could have been an angry patient?

^^^ My dad has had his fair share of crazy patients, and while no one has ever done something as extreme to as this to him, i am sure some patients have done something to get back at a doctor they don't like.

You guys are heartless, who cares if the car runs or engine was affected . It's just a car and can be replaced. The world has become so materialistic.
