I was chauffeuring a client in his Maybach 62S with Panaramic glass roof last week when I noticed the roof had a 3 foot long crack starting a the edge near the right rear door. Drove the car to the nearest MBZ dealer so they could see it before it got worse. Service manager said warranty would not cover it because something had to hit it to cause the crack even though no marks from initial impact. $ 16,900. for replacement glass + labor!

How can MB tell it's cracked due to foreign object if there's no marks?

If MB doesn't cover it, should insurance cover it under glass claims?

Over here, I just have to go to a glass shop like Speedy (well, i think MB should help you on this also...) and they get you to call insurance, say it got hit my rock on highway, say where you want it repaired or replaced, then set appointment with the shop and it's set. Just have to pay the deductible, which is $200 CND for me.

forget the photoelectric roof...how was the drive? lucky

What would, out door temp? If so its still not merc's fault. I cant find a logical reason for glass just to crack...

OUCH!!! In the end the baller owner will just pay it like we pay for minor repairs.

maybe...just maybe. it was a really hot day. and someone put cold water on the glass. and that cracked it.

Thats my theory, its such a long wheelbase and so much weight. The crack started on the right edge above the right rear door and the glass is the roof
